FULL TIME!

And breathe! What a game that was. Leipzig were much improved after the break, aided by Sommer's mistake for Schick's goal and Plea's sending off. Nagelsmann's side threw everything forward and levelled the score through Nkunku's late stunner, but were unable to grab a late winner. All of which means... Bayern Munich are back on top for the first time under Hansi Flick.

LATE SUB

Gladbach run down the clock a bit more in a bid to at least salvage the point, with Johnson replacing Neuhaus.

UNDER WAY AGAIN

The ball is rolling in Leipzig once more and the hosts have reacted to being two goals down by making a double substitution, with Poulsen and Schick coming on for Forsberg and Mukiele.

SOMMER CATCHES

Sabitzer floats a ball into the box, Schick gets a head to it but there's no poweror direction on it, allowing Sommer to come off his line and give his side a much-needed breather.

STOPPAGE TIME

We're into the five minutes of added time now. It's all Leipzig - can they get a dramatic last-gasp winner?
89'

NKUNKU EQUALISES!

It had been coming and finally Leipzig get their reward. Nkunku receives the ball on the left-hand corner of the Gladbach penalty area, dances inside and smashes an unstoppable shot into the far corner. It's a stunning goal and now Leipzig are goign for the winner!
86'

SABITZER WITH A STINGING DRIVE

The Leipzig captain unloads one of his trademark, swerving shots from distance. It's powerfully struck, but Sommer manages to palm it away to safety.
82'

OLMO HITS THE POST!

The Spaniard wriggles past Zakaria inside the six-yard box and shoots low from a tight angle - it comes back off the base of the post before being whacked clear!
81'

NKUNKU GOES FOR GOAL

Nkunku wins a free-kick on the very edge of the Gladbach area, over to the left. He has teammates lining up for the cross in the middle but the Frenchman tries a cheeky shot towards the near post. It's blocked by a defender though.
79'

OLMO TRIES HIS LUCK

Gladbach are packing men into their penalty box as they look to preserve their lead. Nkunku jinks his way past a couple of tackles on the edge of the area before laying it off to Olmo, who curls a low shot towards the bottom corner. Sommer sees it all the way though, and makes a comfortable save.
75'

NICE FROM SCHICK

The striker peels off at the back post to get on the end of Sabitzer's deep cross. He heads it across the face of goal, looking for either Werner or Poulsen, but neither are able to get there quickly enough and Sommer gratefully snatches it on the bounce. Leipzig are really pushing now.
70'

ATTACKING CHANGE FOR LEIPZIG

New signing Dani Olmo comes on to make his Bundesliga debut, replacing Tyler Adams on the pitch. Olmo is the first Spaniard to play for Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
69'

YELLOW FOR EMBOLO

The Gladbach forward will have to be careful now after getting booked too. The last thing the away side need to to go down to nine men!
69'

Substitution

68'

ONE-WAY TRAFFIC

Leipzig have had five shots on goal already this half; Gladbach haven't had any. They've still got around 25 minutes with stoppages to find an equaliser - and perhaps even a winner.
66'

WIDE FROM SABITZER

Another free-kick for Leipzig and this time Sabitzer goes for goal, but his powerful shot from around 30 yards out curls just wide of the post. Sommer would have had it covered anyway.
65'

FREE-KICK FOR LEIPZIG

Werner is hacked down on the left and Nkunku takes the free-kick as the hosts pack the Gladbach penalty area. It's a nice delivery, but Gladbach manage to clear this time.
64'

ON COMES EMBOLO

Gladbach coach Marco Rose reacts to the red card by bringing on Embolo for Thuram, presumaby, giving some fresh legs to the side as he'll have to do a lot of running now.
60'

GLADBACH DOWN TO TEN MEN!

Goalscorer Plea receives two yellow cards in quick succession and suddenly Gladbach are down to ten men! Having gifted Leipzig a goal and now got two unnecessary bookings, the visitors are on the verge of unravelling here!
56'

OVER FROM WERNER!

This is Werner's first real chance all match as he collects a ball on the left, cuts inside the defender on to his right foot and unleashes a shot towards the far corner. He gets too much on the ball though, and it whizzes over the bar.
55'

HEADER FROM UPAMECANO

Nkunku swings in a deep corner to the back post, where Upamecano is waiting. He gets a decent header away but it's a comfortable save for Sommer.
51'

SCHICK PULLS ONE BACK!

It has had the desired effect, although the goal is more the result of a mistake from Sommer. The Gladbach keeper comes off his line to catch a cross from the right, but spills it as he lands and the ball falls right at the feet of Schick, who taps in from close range.
50'
Patrik Schick
48'

TACTICAL CHANGE FOR LEIPZIG

The two substitutions have meant Leipzig reshuffling things somewhat. Adams has now shifted to right-back in what looks to be a 4-4-2 without the ball, with Poulsen and Schick up top and Werner moving out wide to the left. We'll soon see whether it has the desired effect!

GLADBACH DESERVEDLY IN FRONT

The away side have been very impressive so far, staying compact at the back and causing regular problems at the other end of the pitch, particularly through Wendt down the left. Leipzig look like they need some reorganising during half-time if they're to find a way back into this game.

PLEA DENIED BY UPAMECANO

We're into the first of three minutes of added time and again Wendt has space down the left. He plays it inside to Plea, who shapes to shoot but sees his goal-bound effort blocked by another timely Upamecano interception.
45'

IMPRESSIVE GLADBACH DEFENCE

Leipzig are trying to force a way through up front, but Gladbach are sheparding them into the middle from out wide and there are just too many bodies in the way for the home team to get around. Werner and Co. haven't really looked like scoring this half.
40'

RELIEF FOR HOFMANN

That's his first Bundesliga goal since November 2018, and his sixth overall for Gladbach, who have taken lead Leipzig for the first time in their eight matches to date.
37'

CHANCE FOR WERNER!

Halstenberg plays a brilliant ball into Werner's path after spying his run behind the defence. Werner gets a shot away under pressure from Zakaria, but Sommer makes a good save. It wouldn't have counted anyway, as the referee's assistant raises his flag for offside.
36'

HOFMANN DOUBLES THE LEAD!

Wow! Klostermann's attempted clearance falls straight at the feet of Neuhaus, who plays a stunning first-time cushioned pass into the feet of Hofmann, who shifts his weight before lashing in his first Bundesliga goal of the season!
35'
Jonas Hofmann
35'

UPAMECANO TO THE RESCUE!

Strobl plays Thuram through on goal and he looks like he's going to make it 2-0, but Upamecano somehow manages to recover and get a foot on the ball to block his shot!
33'

TEASING CROSS FROM WENDT

The Gladbach left-back is given time to march forward on the left and pick out a cross into the middle. He's looking for Plea at the back post and his delivery is decent, right in the space between the goalkeeper and the defender, but it's too strong for the Gladbach attacker to get there.
30'

GOOD OMEN FOR GLADBACH

The injury to Kramer notwithstanding, there is good news for the visitors: they have taken the lead in 12 matches so far this season in the Bundesliga and have gone on to win all 12.
27'

EARLY SUB

Kramer can't continue and he slowly walks off, leaning heavily on two members of the backroom staff and looking somewhat groggy. Hopefully it's nothing serious for the midfielder, who's replaced by Strobl in the middle of the park.
27'

KRAMER DOWN

The Gladbach midfielder remains on the ground after inadvertently getting a blow to the head from Werner's thigh. He's receiving treatment from the medical staff - Strobl is sent to warm up on the touchline just in case Kramer needs to come off.
24'

PLEA BREAKS THE DEADLOCK!

This is a lovely goal from the guests as Plea nets his eighth Bundesliga goal of the campaign, finishing off a sweeping move form 10 yards out after Wendt kept his composure with a lovely pull-back.
24'
Alassane Pléa
23'

EVEN STEVENS

The teams are cancelling each other out at the moment, their pressing and energy yielding little reward.
15'

HOFMANN CURLS IT WIDE

The Gladbach winger finds a rare pocket of space over towards the left and immediately drives at Klostermann. He cuts inside onto his right foot and bends a shot towards the far post that whistles just wide of the target.
15'

THE ART OF PRESSING

Both teams are pressing high up the pitch without the ball, shifting numbers across to hound the player in possession and win it back as quickly as possible. It's a tactic that's working well, although it's yet to force any errors in either defence.
10'

GLADBACH EDGING IT

The visitors have had two shots on goal so far, whereas Leipzig are yet to test Sommer in the GLadbach goal. The Foals have also won 55 per cent of the challenges and covered marginally more ground (7.14 miles) than Leipzig (7.02).
5'

DOUBLE SAVE FROM GULACSI!

Plea does very well to surge away from his marker and get a shot away from the right-hand edge of the box. Gulacsi gets down well to his right to make the save, but can only parry the ball into the path of Wendt. The Leipzig keeper gets up and makes another fine save to tip the next low shot around the post.
3'

SPARRING

Spoiler alert: both teams like attacking. They're each trying to get forward at pace whenever they get the ball, but are still settling into a rhythm. Possession is changing hands very quickly at present.

UNDER WAY!

Here we go in Leipzig!
Kick-off!

MOMENTS AWAY

The teams are lined up in the tunnel and just awaiting the referee's signal to take to the pitch. Kick-off won't be long now!

WERNER WITH LEWANDOWSKI IN HIS SIGHTS

Can the Leipzig forward add to his 20-goal haul today? He didn't add to his tally in last week's defeat to Frankfurt, while Lewandowski was on target both today and on Matchday 19. As such, the Bayern hitman is currently two goals ahead in the scoring chart with 22.

LEIPZIG TEAM NEWS

Julian Nagelsmann gives Emil Forsberg his first start of 2020, the Sweden international replacing Patrik Schick in what is otherwise an unchanged side for the hosts. New signing Dani Olmo is on the bench and could become the first Spaniard ever to appear for the club in the Bundesliga if he plays today.

GLADBACH TEAM NEWS

Head coach Marco Rose makes three changes to the side that beat Mainz last week. Lainer replaces Johnson at right-back, while Hofmann and Neuhaus come into attacking midfield in place of Herrmann and Stindl.

ADVANTAGE LEIPZIG

This is just the eighth time these teams will face off and Gladbach will be eager to break their duck and record a first victory over Die Roten Bullen. Leipzig have won five times overall, including each of the last four, while there have been two draws.

THE STAKES

Bayern's 3-1 win over Mainz has taken them to the top of the table, two points ahead of Leipzig. Meanwhile, Dortmund's 5-0 thrashing of Union Berlin has lifted them one point above Gladbach, who themselves are two points behind today's hosts. To put it more simply: if Leipzig win they return to the top, if Gladbach win they go second.
