WATCH: SCHALKE GETTING WARM

IN-FORM GRIFO!

Freiburg's Vincenzo Grifo has had a hand in a team-high seven goals all told this season and has scored in each of his last three games.

MIXED FORTUNES

The Black Forest club won for the first time in 10 league outings at the weekend - since beating VfB Stuttgart 3-2 on the opening day - bringing to an end their longest drought in six years. Schalke, meanwhile, were denied a first win in 27 Bundesliga games in added time against Augsburg.

SCHALKE'S ROYAL BLUES AGAINST FREIBURG

Schalke have won only two of their past 10 meetings with Freiburg, both in the 2017/18 season. The last times these teams met in Gelsenkirchen, Freiburg registered their biggest away win against the Royal Blues (0-4).

WATCH: TIME TO GET WARM!

FREIBURG TEAM NEWS

Grifo and his second-half replacement Jeong got the goals on Saturday, but many changes after a first victory in 10 league games would have been a surprise, even accounting for Englische Woche. Jeong's fellow South Korean Kwon is also back in training and on the bench tonight for Wednesday's hosts.

SCHALKE TEAM NEWS

Harit didn't feature in the 2-2 draw against Augsburg at the WWK Arena, but he did take part in team training last week. His return to match sharpness sees him start, with Uth out tonight from the final third and Matondo also in to start. The forward was concussed after a challenge with Augsburg's Uduokhai, but he has already returned home after spending the night in hospital. Further back, first-choice goalkeeper Rönnow is still struggling with a hamstring problem, so long-time Schalke No.1 Fährmann keeps his place in goal.
