NOT FAR AWAY

Hradecky let's a pass across his goal run past him to then continue playing the other way, but he doesn't see Schmid racing up from his blindside. Luckily the Leverkusen goalkeeper gets to the ball before the substitute and clears ahead of him.

INTO THE FINAL 10

It's one way-traffic here but Leverkusen are still struggling to create any clear-cut chances. Pavlenka has yet to have a save to make in this game, incredibly.

ALL LEVERKUSEN NOW

The home side are on the front foot with the bit between their teeth here, looking for a go-ahead goal.

GOAL GIVEN!

No handball is ruled against Alario and Leverkusen are level. It was Schick's shot on goal which was blocked and eventually hit off Augustinsson before going over the line. Credit for the goal may be given to the Bremen defender in the end.

POTENTIAL GOAL

Leverkusen have the ball in the Bremen box but the goal is ruled out. Alario brought down a long ball before Schick claimed possession and saw his shot blocked. It was like a pinball machine as the Bremen defence couldn't clear the rebound before it was hit over the line by a defender. Video-Assist is checking this.
65'

ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK!

It's Dragovic, Tah and Tapsoba at the back for Leverkusen after a change in formation. Bailey is on the left with Bender on the right and Alario and Schick in attack.
62'

DOUBLE CHANGE

Alario and captain Lars Bender are on for Diaby and Sinkgraven here. Should see a change in formation for the home side.
60'

FIRST CHANGE

Some fresh legs into attack with Selke on for Chong after an hour.
56'

DEMIRBAY GOES CLOSE!

The ensuing free-kick is hit a goal by Demirbay but his effort can't go up over the wall and back down again in enough time to find the back of the net.
54'

FIRST YELLOW

The assister of Bremen's opener is booked for a foul on Bailey just outside the box.
52'

BREMEN IN FRONT!

Toprak against his former club and Bremen go into the lead. The away side have been working with the counter and set pieces today and they make the most of the latter here. It's Augustinsson who curls in a free-kick from the right and Toprak is all alone at the near post and he's able to deftly clip the ball past Hradecky.

MORE A FIVE-MAN DEFENCE

Bremen had certainly started the game with a back three, but Gebre Selassie and Augustinsson are sitting back deeper at the start of this second half. It's a five-man defence with three in midfield ahead of them, and Chong and Sargent up in attack.

BACK UNDERWAY!

The ball is rolling again for the second half in Leverkusen with no changes at the break for either side.

SCHICK TURNING PLAYMAKER

The Leverkusen striker is dropping deeper to get on the ball here. He's looking to provide an output from midfield to then link up with the wingers. That's been the home side's struggles so far, bringing the ball from defence to attack. Bremen defending fantastically.
32'

BREMEN UNBEATEN WITH VELJKOVIC

With the centre-back in the starting line-up, Bremen have gone unbeaten in their five games this season. So far it's all going to play for Bremen who have restricted Leverkusen to half-chances, keeping the wingers quiet and Schick ahead of them.

GOOD CHANCE!

Bremen break forward with Sargent through the middle. He goes down under a challenge from Tapsoba but does superbly to get back up, turn and switch the play to find Möhwald. He cuts inside one but is challenged well by Tah to break up the attack.
28'

SARGENT NOT FAR AWAY

A set piece is curled to the back post from Augustinsson and it's Sargent challenging with Baumgartlinger to reach it. He stretches out his right leg but just can't get a touch on the ball to send it at goal from close range.

TALKING TACTICS

AMIRI HAS A GO!

A rare effort on goal here as a ball played inside bounces across Amiri and he duly smashes a volley at goal from all of 25 yards. It bounces just wide of the mark across Pavlenka and his goal in the end.
25'

BACK ON

Amiri back on now after he was nudged into the advertising hoardings.
23'

AMIRI DOWN

The creative midfielder is down on the sidelines after an off-the-ball injury. Not a good sign for Leverkusen.
21'

FRUSTRATION BUILDING

Leverkusen just not clicking yet so far in this game. Link up play between Schick, Diaby and Bailey in attack has been lacking. You can feel the hole that has been left with Wirtz missing.
17'

NOT TAKING THEIR CHANCES

Leverkusen have made a few mistakes in midfield so far but Bremen haven't been able to make the most of them. A few stray passes have let them down so far, too.

CHONG IN SUPPORT

It's the Manchester United loanee right up front with Sargent so far here. There's been little for the attacking pair to work with, but both are pressing and making life difficult for the Leverkusen defence.
10'

BAILEY NOT FAR AWAY

Diaby finds space down the left and gets to the byline before lobbing the ball back up into the box. It comes to Bailey, but it's an awkward one for him on his weaker right foot and the volley is handled with ease by Pavlenka.
9'

IN CONTROL

The hosts dominated possession early on here and forcing long balls from Bremen to release the pressure when they do get the ball.
5'

SCHICK BATTLING

The new Leverkusen signing this season coming up against a former Leverkusen man in Toprak today. So far, it's the former Bayer player who's come out on top. Leverkusen enjoying most of the early possession here though.
2'

FIRST ATTACK

Lovely stuff from Diaby after Amiri had intercepted Veljkovic's pass forward. He nutmegs the defender before racing towards goal but couldn't find the target with his shot at goal.

LEVERKUSEN CHANCE

After Bayern's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Gladbach last night, there's a chance once again for Leverkusen to make up ground on league leaders Bayern. The current gap of five points will be closed to two should Bayer pick up a win today, which would take them temporarily into second place ahead of Leipzig, who face Dortmund this evening.

THE CROSSING KINGS

Diaby leads the way league-wide for most crosses in this season's Bundesliga with 50 for Leverkusen. Meanwhile, Bremen's Ludwig Augustinsson is third on 44, albeit with two resulting in goals compared to Diaby's one. Expect to see those numbers rise today.

BREMEN THE BOGEY TEAM?

Bayer have won only one of their last six Bundesliga home games against Bremen - a 1-0 victory in December 2017, courtesy of an Alario goal. The North German club have also claimed nine of their total (14) points so far this season on the road.

30 TO GO

The players are going through their warm-ups now on the pitch. Leverkusen will be missing the creativity of Florian Wirtz in midfield today with the 17-year-old given a long-overdue rest. Kerem Demirbay will be looking to continue sparking the home side's attack into life through the middle.

THE VIEW IN LEVERKUSEN

LIGHTNING OUT THE BLOCKS

Leverkusen have scored in the opening 15 matches in each of their last five league matches. Bayer have, however, lost each of their last two league outings despite taking the lead (1-2 vs. Bayern, 1-2 vs. Frankfurt).

MORE AMIRI MAGIC TODAY?

Nadiem Amiri produced not just one moment of magic but two last weekend, as he nutmegged one defender with his first touch of control before nutmegging the goalkeeper to score a simply sensational goal. An early contender for Goal of the Year?

LEVERKUSEN TEAM NEWS

Defensive rest bite for Bosz comes in the form of a return for Sinkgraven, with Weiser ruled out for the coming weeks. One half of the Bender twins are out, with club captain Lars only fit for the bench. Wirtz has been given a rest, which sees Demirbay come into midfield. Despite being Leverkusen's eight-goal top scorer, Alario appears to have fallen behind Schick in the pecking order, beginning the last five on the bench.

BREMEN TEAM NEWS

Füllkrug returned from injury as a substitute in the 2-0 home defeat to Union Berlin and does the same this weekend as he continues his return. Fellow forward Sargent hasn't scored or assisted in five, but is a firm favourite of head coach Florian Kohfeldt, having only missed one match this season through injury. With Rashica sidelined, the remaining berth in Kohfeldt's attack goes to Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong.
