SAFE HANDS

Nkunku's free-kick is cleared only as far as Upamecano on the left-hand side of the Wolfsburg penalty area. He loops the ball into the danger zone, but Casteels is there with the catch. He's in no hurry to release it...

NO JOY

Nkunku whips in a corner, but nothing comes of it, despite the best efforts of Upamecano and Orban. Leipzig have all the momentum.

HWANG ON

Like-for-like in the Leipzig attack, with Hwang replacing goalscorer Kluivert. So many Leipzig players in the Wolfsburg half right now...
67'

PUTTING THE STEEL IN CASTEELS

Koen Casteels is off his line in an attempt to fend off the rampaging Kluivert. He stays tall, dropping to the deck at the last to block the Roma loanee's close-range effort. Superb keeping from the towering Belgian.

HERE COMES UPA

With Konate on a yellow card, Nagelsmann introduces Upamecano, who'll be joining him at Bayern next season.
61'

LUCKY OMEN?

Kluivert's first Bundesliga goal came in Leipzig's 3-3 draw in Munich on Matchday 10. Can Die Roten Bullen fight back to get another positive result? Nagelsmann's side have only lost at home this season to Bayern and Dortmund...

ALL LEIPZIG

Kluivert's involved once more, the Dutchman whipping in a cross that Orban can't turn on target. The hosts come again as Angelino controls a cross into the Wolfsburg area, but his shot is charged down and blocked behind for a corner. Klostermann meets it, sending his header wide.
51'

KLUIVERT PULLS ONE BACK!

Superb goal from Justin Kluivert. He controls Sabitzer's chipped pass, puts Mbabu on his back and drills into the net from 10 yards. Great response to Nagelsmann's half-time team talk.

PHILIPP AT THE DOUBLE!

Wolfsburg double their lead on the stroke of half-time. Gerhardt puts the ball through the legs of his marker and sweeps the ball out to Baku on the right. It's a peach of cross from the Germany international - into the six-yard box and onto the toe of Maxi Philipp, who steers the ball home. Wolfsburg heading for the Champions League...

TIME ADDED ON

Sixty seconds to play at the Red Bull Arena. It's the seventh competitive game in a row that Leipzig have failed to score before half-time...

CLOSE

Arnold whips in the ensuing corner. Nkunku gets a touch as Weghorst helps it goalwards, but the ball drops narrowly wide of the post. Let-off for Leipzig.
38'

UP AND OVER

Arnold is upended by Konate in shooting territory, right on the edge of the Leipzig area. It's tailor-made for his rocket-propelled left foot - he takes, but Sabitzer - stationed in the Leipzig wall - gets a touch to put it behind for a corner.
33'

BAKU-NA MATATA

Orban powers into Leipzig territory and win back possession. The Hungarian continues his run as Forsberg clips a pass into his path, only for Ridle Baku to slide in with a monster of a challenge and deny a certain goal.

NKUNKU!

Forsberg's at the heart of everything Leipzig are doing as an attacking unit. His chipped pass takes a deflection, which only helps Nkunku, but Casteels is out to narrow the angle and blocks with his left thigh.
25'

OFF THE POST!

So nearly a second for Wolfsburg. Casteels is the architect, the Belgian goalkeeper racing out of his area to beat Poulsen to a through-ball. His pass finds Baku, who helps it on to Weghorst. The Dutchman takes aim from the edge of the area, curling onto Gulacsi's left-hand post. Superb football.
22'

MUCH IMPROVED

Leipzig have stepped things up significantly since going behind. They're shifting the ball with purpose and pace, following a somewhat slow start. Nagelsmann's side lost the DFB Cup final to Dortmund on Thursday, remember...
15'

CHANCE!

Better from Leipzig as Forsberg crosses for Laimer. He heads across Casteels, but it drifts wide.
13'

MAX POWER!

Wolfsburg punish Leipzig's sluggish start in style!. Arnold feeds Philipp on the edge of the box - he controls with one foot and smashes in on the volley with the other. No chance for Gulacsi - one of the goals of the weekend!
7'

CHANCES!

Mbabu finds Weghorst with a cross into the Leipzig box. It's cushioned into the path of Philipp, but his left-footed strike lacks the power to trouble Gulacsi. The Wolves comes again as Schlager barrels forward and slips in Baku. He only has Gulacsi to beat, but sends his effort wide. Had to chip that, surely?!

NEW THREADS

Leipzig are sporting their new home jersey for the 2021/22 campaign, as is tradition in a team's final home outing of the season. It's a variation on a theme - white with flashes of red.
1'

UNDER WAY!

Massive game in Leipzig. A point for the hosts will secure the runners-up spot. Wolfsburg also need a point to be absolutely sure of their place in next season's Champions League - though they do have a vastly superior goal difference compared to Frankfurt below them.

CLEAN SHEETS ON THE LINE

Leipzig (28 goals conceded) and Wolfsburg (32) have the two best defences in the Bundesliga this season. Key to those records are the two goalkeepers Peter Gulacsi (r.) and Koen Casteels (l.), who have kept the most clean sheets in the league this season. The Leipzig shot-stopper leads the way with 15, ahead of his Wolfsburg counterpart on 14.

WATCH: WOLFSBURG 2-2 LEIPZIG - REVERSE FIXTURE

Leipzig are unbeaten in seven competitive meetings with Wolfsburg (W1, D3 in the Bundesliga, plus W3 in the DFB Cup). The Wolves last won on 24 November 2018 thanks to Jerome Roussillon’s goal in a 1-0 league victory at home. The most recent encounter on 3 March saw RB win 2-0 in the DFB Cup quarter-finals thanks to goals from Poulsen and substitute Hwang. The reverse fixture ended 2-2 after both teams took the lead at some stage.

IN WOLFSBURG'S HANDS

After three defeats in four league games, Wolfsburg stood up to the pressure last matchday with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Union. It meant the Wolves defended third place and a third UEFA Champions League qualification remains in their own hands. To wrap it up with a game to spare, they only need one point today after Frankfurt lost at Schalke yesterday.

ONE MORE POINT

Despite losing 3-2 away at Dortmund last matchday, Leipzig still secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League for the fourth time (and third year in a row) thanks to Mainz’s draw at Frankfurt. Die Roten Bullen now only need a point today to secure the runners-up spot in the Bundesliga behind Bayern.

WATCH: INSIDE THE WOLVES' CHANGING ROOM

WOLFSBURG TEAM NEWS

As for Oliver Glasner, he makes only one change from last weekend’s 3-0 win at home to Union Berlin. It’s hat-trick hero Josip Brekalo who misses out through injury – Yannick Gerhardt comes into the team for him. Maximilian Arnold makes his 250th Bundesliga appearance.

LEIPZIG TEAM NEWS

Julian Nagelsmann makes a hefty eight changes from Thursday’s DFB Cup final loss to Dortmund. The only remaining players are goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, Lukas Klostermann and captain Marcel Sabitzer. Yussuf Poulsen makes his first league start since 14 March in a 1-1 draw against Frankfurt, while Konrad Laimer makes his first start in any competition since last season’s UEFA Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain on 18 August 2020. Dani Olmo is absent from the squad for the first time since he joined Leipzig in January 2020. And 16-year-old Sidney Raebiger features in the senior squad for the first time. He could become the second-youngest player to ever appear in the Bundesliga if he comes on.
