FULL TIME

Stuttgart gave a good account of themselves and can hold their heads high after this game. They played well and were unfazed by their visitors, but just lacked the killer instinct in the final third. Bayern might not have hit their absolute top gear, but showed the ruthlessness needed in the top flight with goals from Coman, Lewandowski and Costa.
88'

COSTA SEALS IT

Stuttgart have had their chances but Bayern have just been more clinical today. Sane plays the ball out to Costa on the right wing. He cuts inside on to his preferred left foot and smashes a low shot in at the near post.

STUTTGART PUSHING

Silas ties the Bayern defence in knots again, this time down the left. His cross to the back post finds Kalajdzic, but his shot is well saved by Neuer.

BRILLIANT FROM SILAS

The VfB attacker dribbles past Pavard, Sane and Martinez with some incredible footwork. The ball eventually comes to Anton, who drills a low shot wide of the post.
83'

MARTINEZ ON

The veteran Spaniard replaces Tolisso in the middle of the park. Moments earlier, Stuttgart's Massimo came on for Coulibaly, who also looks to be carrying an injury.
81'

TOLISSO DOWN

Bad news for Bayern as Tolisso looks to have a muscular issue after stretching for a pass in midfield. He's down an receiving treatment.
77'

NEXT STUTTGART CHANGE

It's a like-for-like swap here as Kalajdzic comes on up top for Förster.
76'

BAYERN GO FOUR ON THREE!

A swift counter from the visitors, who look set to kill the game off. Goretzka plays in Sane in space on the right and there are four Bayern attackers against three defenders. It's worked to Costa on the left, but his attempted cross to Lewandowski in the middle is blocked.
72'

MANGALA MUST EQUALISE!

Silas scampers down the right and cuts inside Alaba, pulling the ball back for the onrushing Mangala. He must score from eight yards out, but his shot strikes Süle and is deflected out for a corner!

SANE FIRST SHOT

He's only been on the pitch for a few seconds but already he's causing problems. Goretzka lays the ball off to Sane, just outside the area. His low shot goes wide of the post though.
69'

TRIPLE SUBSTITUTION

Costa, Sane and Nianzou come on for Coman, Gnabry and Boateng, the latter hobbling a bit after picking up a knock in a tackle.
67'

SILAS SHOOTS

The VfB attacker, the quickest player on the pitch, sprints away from Süle in the right-hand channel, but drags his shot wide of the far post.
65'

SANE WARMING UP

Bayern winger Leroy Sane is preparing to come on to give Bayern a bit more thrust in attack. He'll be on in the next couple of minutes.
63'

WILL BAYERN SHOOT?

Bayern break forward down the left with Müller, who sweeps a cross-field ball over to Coman. They're trying to find a shooting opportunity as they shift the ball from one player to the next on the edge of the box, but eventually they're crowded out and Stuttgart breathe a sigh of relief.
59'

DOUBLE CHANGE FOR VfB

The hosts make two substitutions as Klimowicz replaces Castro to provide a bit more attacking impetus, while Karazor comes on for Mavropanos.
58'

FIRST SUB FOR BAYERN

Hernandez is evidently seemingly still feeling the effects of his tumble a few minutes ago, and with Davies still injured, Flick is taking no risks. Süle comes on in at centre-back, with Alaba moving to left-back.
57'

BAYERN PROBING

Coman scampers down the left and slides a ball into Lewandowski's path. He things about shooting but instead tries to find a teammate with a cross, which is blocked for a corner. Bayern are gaining some momentum right now.

UNSTOPPABLE BAYERN

Coman has now scored in each of his last three competitive outings, while Bayern have found the net in each of their last 37 in all competitions. Lewandowski, meanwhile, is now on 12 Bundesliga goals for the season.

HERNANDEZ RECEIVING TREATMENT

The Bayern left-back is in some discomfort after appearing to collide with the advertising hoardings around the pitch while trying to cross. He looks like he'll be ok to play on, though.
48'

WIDE FROM LEWANDOWSKI

A couple of chances in quick succession for the Pole, as first Coman's cross from the left is just a bit too high. Possession is recycled and he heads wide from a cross from the right, but a foul is given for his tussle with the defender.

BAYERN HAVE THE EGDE

The scoreline is probably a tad harsh on Stuttgart, who have played with confidence and purpose going forward, looking threatening on several occasions. They have left gaps at the back a few times though, which have been ruthlessly punished by some clinical Bayern finishing.

STUNNING FROM LEWANDOWSKI

Bayern keep pushing as the half-time whistle approaches and Coman dribbles forward down the left before flicking it inside to Lewandowski. He lets the ball roll across his body before smashing a swerving shot into the net from 20 yards out. A brilliant strike.

Stuttgart give the ball away cheaply in midfield and Bayern immediately go on the front foot. Gnabry tears forward down the right and smashes a low shot at goal, but Kobel gets down well and makes a good save,

FÖRSTER GOAL DISALLOWED

Stuttgart thought they had edged ahead again almost immediately as Neuer has the ball at his feet, trying to play it out from the back. He loses the ball and Förster rifles home, but it's ruled out after a VAR check for a foul by Coulibaly on the goalkeeper.

NEUER DENIES FÖRSTER

Stuttgart have another clear sight of goal following a lapse from Hernandez, and Förster goes one-on-one with Neuer. He gets a shot away, but Neuer is more than equal to it.
36'

FÖRSTER MAKES IT 2-0... BUT NO!

A lovely, flowing move from Stuttgart. Castro plays it into Sosa down the left and his cross into the middle finds Förster, who is completely unmarked 10 yards out. He shoots first time and must score... but it goes wide.
33'

ALABA AT THE BYLINE

The Bayern centre-back gets forward with a rare foray into the final third. His drilled cross into the middle is looking for Lewandowski, but he's well marshalled by the defence. Moments later Gnabry has a chance to shoot, but Kobel saves well.

NICE AGAIN FROM STUTTGART

Förster again slides it into Silas on the right, and again he curls a first-time cross into the middle. Neuer can't get it, but there's nobody in the middle to finish it off.

NO STOPPING STUTTGART

VfB have scored in every league game so far this season, while their goal was scored by the youngest player on the pitch: Coulibaly is just 19.

PAVARD SPECIAL - ALMOST

Bayern are pushing for an equaliser now and get forward well down the left. It's pulled back for Müller on the edge of the box, but he swings and misses completely. It runs on for Pavard, who attempts one of his diagonal-to-the-back post shots (as he did against Argentina in the 2018 World Cup), but Kobel tips this shot out for a corner.
20'

STUTTGART TAKE THE LEAD!

Another good break for Stuttgart and this time they get through! Förster feeds Silas down the right, and he plays a superb first-time ball into the middle to the unmarked Coulibaly, who slots home from 10 yards out! Game on!

STUTTGART CONFIDENT

Not many sides try to play the ball out from the back against Bayern - but Stuttgart are. Unbeaten since Matchday 1, they're full of confidence here and are by no means overawed or being overrun.
15'

STUTTGART ALMOST IN!

A lovely counter-attack from VfB, as Castro releases Förster into space down the right with a brilliant ball with the outside of his right boot. Förster tries to fashion a shooting opportunity, but Alaba watches him all the way and gets a toe in before he can get a shot off.

BAYERN UP FOR IT

Stuttgart coach Materazzo said pre-game that he wanted his players to "fight", but they're losing the physical battle with Bayern at the moment. They're winning two for every one for Stuttgart.

STUTTGART FREE-KICK

Stuttgart win a free-kick in a dangerous area, about 30 yards from goal and just to the left of centre. Captain Castro takes it and strikes the ball brilliantly, but his curling effort goes just wide of Neuer's post .
9'

LEWANDOWSKI DOWN

Stuttgart have possession but knock the ball out of play as Lewandowski is down, clutching his chest. He's grimacing but looks to be ok to continue. Bayern get the ball rolling again, giving it back to the hosts for their fair play.
6'

GORETZKA HEADS OVER

Gnabry turns Anton inside out on the Bayern left and then stands a ball up into the middle. He finds Goretzka but it's just a bit too high for him, and his header floats over the bar.
5'

CORNER FOR STUTTGART

A bit of a misunderstanding between Hernandez and Alaba at the back for Bayern, who give away a corner from their own throw-in. It comes to nothing though, as Neuer collects in the air from the set-piece.
4'

LEWY HITS THE POST!

Coman lofts a ball from the left into the middle and the unmarked Lewandowski thunderous a header against the post!
2'

FIRST DANGEROUS OPENING

Bayern don't wait long before causing problems as Müller sneaks in behind the Stuttgart defence on the right and immediately tries to cut the ball back into the middle from the byline. He's looking for Lewandowski at the near post, but a defender gets a foot in to clear.

AND WE'RE OFF

Kick-off!

MINUTE'S SILENCE

Players and officials are now observing the minute's silence in honour of the late Diego Maradona, who passed away earlier this week.

ALMOST TIME

The players are out on the pitch now, we're moments away from kick-off.

MATARAZZO: "IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE FIGHT"

VfB head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has given his thoughts on facing the defending champions, aware that his side are the underdogs here: "The most important thing for me is that we fight and give it everything. Then we'll see where we stand. The chances are low of us picking up points, but we want to do everything we can to make it happen. We're focusing on our own strengths."

STUTTGART BATTLE CRY

Today's hosts are unbeaten in their last seven games (two wins, five draws) and are the most attack-minded promoted side in eight years with 16 goals scored to date. VfB midfielder Wataru Endo is another to keep an eye on. The Japanese international has won more one-on-one duels than any other player in the Bundesliga this term (133). Like Gonzalez, he has just extended his contract until 2024.

WATCH OUT FOR SILAS

Stuttgart may be without headline man Nicolas Gonzalez today and for the coming weeks, but in Silas Wamangituka they have a speed-demon in attack. The Congolese forward has clocked the fastest speed in the Bundesliga this season at 22mph.

STUTTGART TEAM NEWS

The loss of Gonzalez to a knee injury is a heavy blow. The Argentina striker, who recently extended his contract until 2024, had just netted in successive outings against Schalke, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim, but will now be sidelined for several weeks. Sasa Kalajdzic is waiting on the bench as the Austria international has gone off the boil after his sizzling start to the season, failing to score in five matches, with Silas leading the attack. Left wing-back Borna Sosa also returns to the side with French teenager Tanguy Coulibaly on the other flank. Meanwhile, Philipp Förster starts for the first time this season.

BAYERN TEAM NEWS

Benjamin Pavard took a knock to his ankle against Salzburg but he starts against his former side, while fellow Frenchmen Lucas Hernandez and Corentin Tolisso slot back into the starting XI. Further up the pitch, Leroy Sane and Douglas Costa are both on the bench with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry preferred on the wings. Alphonso Davies has returned to individual training but is unlikely to feature in the Bundesliga for at least several weeks, and possibly not until after the winter break.
