Ball Recovery Time

information
Ball Recovery Time
Ball Recovery Time gives the time in seconds in which it takes a team to win back the ball following a loss of possession. It also allows conclusions to be drawn about a team's style of play. Only time when the ball is in play is counted (i.e. no breaks in play such as for goal-kicks, throw-ins etc).

Triple change

Fresh legs and new ideas for the visitors, who have been second best since the restart.

Scramble!

Union somehow survive another pair of low crosses into the area, with Eintracht players lining up to apply the finish. Can Frankfurt capitalise on this spell of pressure?
60'

A whisker away!

Marmoush sends in a teasing ball from the right-hand side, but Tuta can't turn it home on the stretch. All it needed was a touch!
58'

Marmoush!

Frankfurt's top scorer combines with Ekitiké, before unleashing a rising strike that forces Rönnow to parry at his near post. Lovely build-up!

Play resumes

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).

Frankfurt pushing

Tuta in a very advanced position for Frankfurt, but his attempted cut-back is put behind for a corner that's cleared.
27'

Right idea!

Vertessen feeds the run of the lively Aaronson, who pops up between to Frankfurt defenders on the edge of the box before lifting an effort comfortably clear of Trapp's bar.
23'

Vertessen!

Now Union attack with Vertessen, who drills a shot straight at Trapp. Great entertainment so far!
21'

Offside!

Koch spots the run of Ekitiké, who gets a touch in ahead of the on-rushing Rönnow. It takes him a little wide, though, allowing the Union stopper to scramble back and block the eventual shot. A flag then goes up against the PSG loanee.

Wide!

Brenden Aaronson controls a headed clearance, before driving a shot wide of the far post. The American's in form, and feels he should probably have hit the target!

Route one

Rönnow lumps a ball up to Vertessen. He gets in ahead of Koch, but the Frankfurt defender applies enough pressure to force a shot that doesn't trouble the advancing Trapp.
2'

Attack mode

Bright start from Frankfurt - they're straight on the attack. A ball's slipped into the box, but the white shirts of Union snuff if out.
Kick-off!

Teams out

The Frankfurt fans are in fine voice, belting out 'Schwarz-Weiß wie Schnee' - the club's 'Black and white like snow' anthem.

Table talk

Frankfurt will end the weekend in sixth, whatever happens. The ideal combination of results would see them win and Leipzig lost at home to Mainz, thus reducing the gap to fifth to six points. Another positive result for 13th-placed Union, meanwhile, would mark another step towards mathematical safety.

Toppmöller on Union

"Union had a run of unfortunate defeats in the autumn and played below their capabilities. They have stabilised under their new coach. Their playing style remains similar with physicality, a lot of crosses and good transitions. They will be tough nuts to crack. As we're at home, we see ourselves as favourites, however. We are taking on that role and want to show we are worth it from the first minute on!"

Bjelica on Frankfurt

"Frankfurt are very difficult opponents, but we reckon we have a chance. They are doing really well this season and are battling to qualify for Europe. I hope we can build on our performance against Werder Bremen."

Expect goals

In nine Bundesliga meetings, this game has never finished goalless and one of the many players hoping to maintain that record will be Mario Götze. He's scored in successive games and is searching for a third in a row for the first time since his Bayern Munich days in 2014.
