Watch: Kaiserslautern 3-3 Darmstadt - previous meeting

Darmstadt and Kaiserslautern shared six goals back on Matchday 8. It was the second of only four occasions this season the Lilies have shipped two or more in a single league game.

Table talk

Heidenheim moved top of the table after beating Karlsruhe 5-2 yesterday. They're now a point clear of Darmstadt and Hamburg, who could only draw with Kiel. Kaiserslautern can climb as high as fourth, and to within seven points of the promotion play-off spot, with a win today.

Darmstadt also slipped up against a team fighting relegation. It was the first time this season they lost back-to-back league games.

More on those teams

Manu replaces the injured Honsak for Darmstadt. There are also starts for Müller in defence and Bader in midfield. Schuster makes four changes to the Kaiserslautern team that drew with Sandhausen, meanwhile. Luthe returns in goal, while midfielder Rapp and attackers Opoku, Klement and Redondo all get the nod.

Lautern coach wants coolness

Dirk Schuster, who had two spells on the sidelines in Darmstadt, said with his Kaiserslautern side currently on 39 points: "We will be well advised to put the intense atmosphere on Saturday evening to one side and leave everything on the pitch in order to reach or smash through the 40-point mark."
camera-photo

Lieberknecht thoughts

Darmstadt coach Torsten Lieberknecht says: "My team has shown an incredible mentality and quality, which has put us where we are right now. We will keep on taking the situation seriously whether we win or lose. The team has deserved a huge level of support this Saturday."

Kaiserslautern outline ambitions

The former four-time German champions are facing a tall task to contend for promotion after one win in their past five. It has been an impressive first season back in the second flight though, with Lautern currently nestled in sixth, ten points behind Darmstadt with ten matches remaining - not an entirely insurmountable gap if they were to win tonight.

Darmstadt want to drive on again

A draw and two defeats in the past three games put a sudden bump in Darmstadt's wonderful season until then. The Lilies lost top spot on Friday to Heidenheim, who beat Karlsruhe 5-2, but the hosts know a win tonight should move them back to the top of the pile.
