Miroslav Klose on Kaiserslautern
"Our focus is on following up the performances of recent weeks. Lautern have a very good team with many facets. I'm happy that we're moving forward, but we still have many areas to improve."
Markus Anfang on Nuremberg
"We want to present ourselves away from home as we have done recently. We're playing against a team that has shown they can score goals. We need to defend in the right way. We want to bring the intensity and physicality in challenges from last week into Friday's match."
Classic encounter
Nuremberg versus Kaiserslautern sees a combined 13 German championships and over 2,500 Bundesliga matches. One of the Bavarians' nine titles came in 1948 through a 2-1 victory in the national final against Lautern.
A big reunion
Miroslav Klose began his professional career at Kaiserslautern (120 Bundesliga matches, 44 goals), with opposite number Markus Anfang a teammate at the club.
But recent form not with the Bavarians
However, Nuremberg's last victory in this fixture was over seven years ago, with a 3-0 home win in Bundesliga 2 in July 2017. Since then, the Red Devils have usually had the upper hand in seven encounters. Last season, there were three matches, two in Bundesliga 2 and one in the DFB Cup. Lautern won the cup meeting 2-0 at home.
Impeccable home record
Nuremberg have never lost at home Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga 2, achieving five wins and two draws in seven encounters.
