Fürth can seal the deal!
But they don't! Hrgota breaks free in the penalty area and lays it off unselfishly to Müller, who only needs to tap it in, but a Berlin leg prevents the ball from crossing the line! Now Hertha are coming back into it!

Only Hertha
Since the sending-off, the Berliners have hardly given the ball away. However, they're not really creating any decisive chances in front of goal, and stoppage time is about to begin.

Another yellow card
Márton Dárdai prevents a counter-attack by pulling an opponent's shirt.

That was close!

81'
Hertha on the attack!
Cuisance cuts in from the left and looks to shoot, but his effort is blocked for a corner. The initial corner is cleared, but on the second attempt, Niederlechner narrowly misses a cross from the right! Could Hertha be in with a chance here?

Sent off!
Dietz holds back the accelerating Scherhant with both arms on the left, he would have been quite free to break through. Haslberger shows the Fürth player the second yellow card - also because he kicks the ball away.

Good Set Pieces
This time it's a free kick that Green delivers well into the centre, but no one gets on the end of it. Hertha could counter-attack, but they don't.
73'
Crossbar!
The Berlin side have some space on the right, but can't make good use of it. They maintain possession and try down the left flank instead. A cross finds Niederlechner, who, with his back to goal, turns and strikes with the tip of his boot - the lob hits the crossbar!

Bookings on both sides

Hertha presses high
And they almost get the ball this way, but referee Haslberger blows the whistle for a tackle that's too hard. Now Greuther Fürth builds up play again.
49'
High ball recovery
After a good passing sequence, the ball reaches Massimo in the middle, but he doesn't put enough power behind his shot - Ernst holds the ball securely.
47'
Corner from the right
Green once again delivers the ball into the centre, but Gießelmann doesn't make proper contact with his header. The newly substituted Niederlechner stays down initially, but is able to continue.

Hertha advances down the right flank and tries to set up Schuler in the attacking third, but Noll comes out and clears the ball!
40'
Same pattern
After the equaliser, Fürth immediately pick up the pace again, but Hertha manage to clear the situation. A lot of the play is once again taking place in midfield.
39'
Home debut for Futkeu
The striker has already scored his fifth goal of the season, finding the net for the first time in a home match in the Bundesliga 2.
38'
The equaliser!
Green delivers a high corner from the right into the centre, Jung heads it towards goal, Futkeu dances in front of keeper Ernst, completely blocking his view, and in the end, he gets a touch on the ball with the tips of his hair. Back to square one!
34'
Fruitless attack
Hertha quickly attacks down the left, but then Thorsteinsson slows it down, and his attempted cross is blocked by Meyerhöfer for a corner. The corner comes to nothing.
32'
Fürth slower
The Cloverleaves take longer than Hertha to win the ball back. However, the home side have also been keeping possession for longer periods in recent minutes.

Fürth now more active
Another high cross sails in from the left into the penalty area, Ernst calmly plucks it out of the air.
28'
Fürth again!
After a lovely solo effort, Hrgota finds himself free in front of keeper Ernst for a shot. Instead of finishing with his left, he opts for the outside of his right boot - Ernst spreads himself and makes the save.
25'
Futkeu!
Now Fürth are keeping the ball in their own ranks for a bit longer. Hrgota plays a great through ball to Massimo, who crosses from the left to Futkeu. The ball is actually at a good height, but because he goes down on his knees a bit, he can't place the ball properly, and the header goes wide of the right post.
24'
Much action in midfield
Hertha is now sitting deeper again, Fürth is even pressing in Berlin's penalty area.

Three corners, no goal
After a roundabout route, the ball ends up with Hrgota following the corner kick. He attempts a shot while falling, but his effort is too weak and is ultimately cleared for another corner. The third corner follows immediately. However, it also yields nothing.
16'
Futkeu goes down in the penalty area
The striker suddenly finds himself free, but the ball bounces away from hi. In the end, he catches his foot on the sliding Zeefuik - the referee deemed it not a punishable foul.

Fürth's first goal attempt
Futkeu receives the ball between the six-yard box and the penalty spot. With his back to goal, he decides against a quick turn and shot. Instead, he lays it back out of the penalty area, and the subsequent shot from deep is blocked.
8'
Unchanged
As before the opening goal, the Berliners are almost constantly in possession of the ball, but now they are positioned much higher up the pitch than at the beginning. Nevertheless, they are currently unable to create any dangerous chances.

Dream start for the visitors
Hertha scored with their first shot on goal in this match - that's efficiency for you!

Hertha takes the lead!
The visitors come through the middle, Maza turns it on, the ball reaches the striker again via two stations, who can pick his spot in front of goal - he opts for the left corner.
4'
Little movement
Both sides are figuring each other out. Fürth wins the first corner, leading to the first shot, which ends up in the upper tier.
3'
Hertha in possession
The visitors are building up play very calmly from the back. Fürth remain standing around the halfway line, waiting for their opponents.

Chance for Schuler
Luca Schuler also last started in Hertha's initial line-up on matchday seven, and has since only been used as a substitute six times.
Demme back in Hertha's starting lineup
The long-injured Diego Demme is in Hertha's starting lineup for the first time since matchday seven (1-4 home defeat against Elversberg). Most recently, in the DFB-Pokal match in Cologne, he was substituted on in the 29th minute for the injured Kevin Sessa.

Three changes for Berlin
Hertha coach Cristian Fiél makes three changes to his starting lineup compared to the 1-2 defeat in the DFB-Pokal in Cologne: Demme, Schuler and Thorsteins play in place of Scherhant, Niederlechner (both on the bench) and Sessa (thigh problems).
Fürth make two changes
Cloverleaf manager Jan Siewert makes two changes to his starting lineup compared to the last match (1-1 draw in Ulm): Jung and Futkeu come in for Michalski and Mustapha (both on the bench).
And this is how Hertha lines up:
Ernst - Kenny, Leistner (c), Palkó Dárdai, Zeefuik - Klemens, Demme - Cuisance, Maza - Schuler, Thorsteinsson
The line-up for Fürth:
Noll - Dietz, Jung, Itter - Meyerhöfer, Bansé, Green, Gießelmann - Hrgota (c), Massimo - Futkeu
Jan Siewert's thoughts
"Hertha is a very strong team in possession and shows a lot of directness, especially in the final third. It's about us getting to the phase where we become calm with the ball. By that, I mean that we need to purposefully move towards the goal when in possession. We'll need that against Hertha."

Christian Fiél's thoughts
"We can expect a lot of individual quality in Fürth. We mustn't let them play their game. There's a new manager there. They will probably focus on defending well. So we need to be patient. Our bodies might still be tired, but as soon as we step onto the pitch, we must be ready. There are no excuses."
Former Cloverleaf
Hertha forward Fabian Reese played for Fürth from early 2018 to mid-2019, making 44 appearances in the Bundesliga 2 and scoring 3 goals.
A top clash 100 years ago
Fürth celebrated their most important victories against Hertha in 1926 and 1929, when the Cloverleaves prevailed in the German Championship finals, securing the last two of their three league titles.
Hertha dominant
Hertha have won five of the last six competitive matches against Fürth, the exception in this period being the away match at Ronhof on 12 February 2022. On that occasion, the two teams met in the Bundesliga, with Fürth winning 2-1 thanks to a brace from Branimir Hrgota (Fürth's last Bundesliga victory).
Extremes for both sides
Last season, Hertha won both encounters (5-0 at home, 2-1 away) against Fürth. In 2023/24, Hertha had no better record against any other team, while Greuther Fürth had no worse record against any other team.
