Full-time: Darmstadt 5-1 Kaiserslautern
Darmstadt put Kaiserslautern to the sword with a resounding 5-1 victory in the Bundesliga 2's prime-time kick-off slot. Hornby and Corredor each scored twice for Darmstadt, with Marseiler adding another. Hanslik got on the scoresheet for Kaiserslautern, who were out of sorts for long stretches of the match and who looked shaky at the back. The Lilies, on the other hand, extend their unbeaten run in the league to nine matches.

Another brace tonight!
Corredor also scores his second goal - and what a goal! The striker takes a pass from Kempe in his stride, leaves Touré and Heuer looking foolish, and then slots it into the bottom-left corner.

Front three on fire
Hornby scored twice, while Corredor and Marseiler have each been directly involved in two goals, netting once and getting an assist. They've done well despite losing Lidberg early on.

Hornby completes his brace!
Müller plays an excellent ball into the left channel, which has been left open by the Kaiserslautern defence. Marseiler storms into the penalty area and squares it to Hornby, who only needs to tap in to make it 4-0. It's far too easy for the home side.
73'
Tomiak sees yellow
The defender prevents Thiede from taking a throw-in and is therefore cautioned by referee Lechner.
71'
Almost 4-0!
After a set move from a corner, Riedel misses a chance to make it 4-0 from point-blank range as Krahl spreads himself to save the effort, and then Vukotić shoots over the bar.

Hornby free-kick
The Scot tests Krahl from 27 metres out, forcing Lautern's keeper to tip it over the crossbar.

No offside, goal stands!
VAR checked a possible offside by Förster in the build-up to Darmstadt's third, but there was nothing of the sort to be seen.

Lilies extend their lead!
This could be the decisive moment: Förster simply clips the ball into the middle from the right. Hornby chests it down and lays it off for Corredor. He shoots from 11 metres out, but Krahl parries it to the side: fortunately for Darmstadt, Marseiler is on hand to tap in the rebound from close range.

Improvement from the visitors
The away side have had five shots since the break, three more than Darmstadt.
54'
Another big chance
Nürnberger plays Marseiler through on the left, but he loses his footing and can't get a decent shot on goal. It deflects off Heuer for a corner. However, the set-piece proves to be harmless.
54'
Sirch fires well over
The midfielder's first-time shot from a central position flies well over the crossbar.

Doing okay without Lidberg
Two players have stepped up to fill the boots of their top-scoring striker. Hornby's goal was his first since matchday 10: he hadn't scored in his last four matches.
50'
Ritter blocked
From the resulting corner, midfielder Ritter manages to get a shot off in the centre, but it's blocked. Schuhen manages to gather the ball before the visitors get another corner.

Half-time: Darmstadt 2-0 Kaiserslautern
A well-deserved 2-0 lead for Darmstadt at the break. With 1.43-0.11 xGoals and six shots on target to Kaiserslautern's two, the Lilies are clearly superior to the Red Devils. The visitors were only really in the game for the first few minutes, but then noticeably declined from the 10th minute onwards. The hosts are dominating the game, and Lautern need to significantly improve their performance should they want to get anything from this game.

2-0 Darmstadt!
The Lilies add another before the half-time whistle! Marseiler draws in two players on the left flank and spots an unmarked Corredor next to him. He passes it on to Hornby in the middle, who can calmly receive the ball and shoot from a central position on the edge of the box. Tomiak takes a long stride, but the ball goes through his legs before it rolls into the bottom-left corner! Krahl had no chance.

Chance for a second goes begging!
Once again, it's a long ball from the home side that puts the visitors' defence in trouble. This time, Corredor collects it on the right and has plenty of space ahead of him. However, Marseiler is in a better position on the left. Corredor plays an excellent pass to find the substitute, but he fails to convert from close range as Krahl makes another outstanding save.
38'
Not catching out Schuhen
Ritter takes a short corner from the left and plays it to Kleinhansl. He returns the ball to his captain, who then opts to shoot, but Schuhen is able to safely collect this at the near post.
37'
Success after the switch
Corredor moved into the attack in place of the injured Lidberg and had immediate success in his new position. The head coach's tactical change has certainly paid off.
33'
Corredor heads it in!
In a phase where both teams were pushing the ball back and forth through midfield, the hosts net to make it 1-0! López gets the ball on the right side of the pitch near the penalty area. Meanwhile, Corredor is completely unmarked on the left side of the box. The Frenchman moves into the free space and nods a pinpoint López cross into the bottom-right corner from six metres out. It's a deserved lead for the hosts.

The Swede appears to pull a muscle during his sprint towards the opposition's goal. He goes down clutching his left hamstring, a signal that he cannot continue.

Lidberg!
After being played through by Hornby, Lidberg bursts down the right flank, nutmegging Heuer in the process, and continues through to the penalty area. Upon his arrival, however, Lidberg opts to shoot with his right foot instead of his left and drags the effort wide of the far post.

Great chance for the Lilies!
Müller chips the ball from his own half in behind the Kaiserslautern defence. Lidberg is through on goal, but his shot from 14 metres is brilliantly saved by Krahl's left foot.

Still growing into it
Both sides are still showing some rust in the opening minutes, as several passes go astray.

First attempt
Kaiserslautern play a long ball into the opposition half. Darmstadt fail to clear the ball, which allows Hanslik to attempt a volley from 20 metres out. However, this is no problem for Schuhen, who collects the ball.

Three new faces for Lautern
Compared to the 3-1 victory against Karlsruhe, there are three changes in Kaiserslautern's starting line-up: Heuer, Kaloč (who was previously suspended due to yellow card accumulation) and Hanslik start in place of Elvedi (yellow card accumulation), Aremu and Mause (bench).
Unchanged Lilies
Darmstadt begin with the same starting 11 for the fourth consecutive time in Bundesliga 2. In the three previous matches, the Lilies remained undefeated (victory in Hannover, draws against Münster and at HSV).
Kaiserslautern's starting XI
Krahl - Toure, Tomiak, Heuer - Ronstadt, Ritter, Sirch, Kleinhansl - Yokota, Mause - Hanslik
This is how Darmstadt line up
Schuhen - Lopez, Riedel, Vukotic, Nürnberger - Klefisch, Müller, Förster, Corredor - Lidberg, Hornby
Florian Kohfeldt on facing Kaiserslautern
"These are two teams that are currently in very good form. Saturday evening, 8:30 PM, it's a worthy setting. We're looking forward to an exciting 50-50 match."
Markus Anfang on facing Darmstadt
"Due to our recent run of success, we have gained a certain level of self-confidence. And we always approach matches with the intention of winning them. The lads have internalised this through recent successes. But Darmstadt also have a lot of self-confidence. In terms of quality, we're facing a team that wants to continue on their chosen path. It will be a very intense and passionate match, and we'll need to push ourselves to the limit."
A Redondo brace
Kenny Prince Redondo scored his only brace in 163 second-division matches against Darmstadt, in a 3-3 draw on 11 September 2022.
Will it happen again this year?
Whenever Darmstadt and Kaiserslautern have played in the same league, one of them has always been either promoted (Darmstadt in 2014/15 and 2022/23 in the Bundesliga 2) or relegated (Kaiserslautern in 2017/18 in the Bundesliga 2, Darmstadt in 1978/79 and 1981/82 in the Bundesliga).
Favoured opposition
Darmstadt have only lost one of their last six matches against Kaiserslautern - a 2-1 home defeat in February 2018 in the Bundesliga 2 - winning twice and drawing on three occasions.
