Hertha head coach Fiel brings on Schuler for Scherhant. It seems they'll have to resort to long balls now. Otherwise, there appears to be no way through in the Regensburg penalty area.

Chaos in Regensburg's penalty area
The home side fail to clear the ball from their own penalty area multiple times. The ball pinballs between several players. In the end, no Hertha player manages to get a decisive shot off. It's a very tense game at the moment!
68'
The impressive Hottmann departs
Regensburg also make a substitution. The notable Hottmann leaves the pitch alongside his strike partner Adamyan. Huth and Ganaus, who scored the consolation goal in the 1-5 defeat against Ulm, come on.

Half-time: Regensburg 1-0 Hertha Berlin
In a hard-fought match, Jahn Regensburg are making it difficult for Hertha Berlin. The visitors are hardly getting any clear chances. On the other side, an unnecessary foul by Klemens led to a penalty just before half-time, which Kühlwetter coolly converted. Regensburg are showing a good reaction to the Ulm defeat, but Hertha must step up their game in the second half.

After the next set-piece, Klemens hits Kühlwetter, who is standing with his back to goal, in the penalty area.
41'
Farewell to flowing play
Goal-scoring opportunities are scarce, but Regensburg now have a free kick on the right side. The delivery, however, is harmless. Because Cuisance nods off during the clearing attempt in his own penalty area, it almost becomes dangerous again. In the end, it remains a disjointed affair.
38'
Ziegele fouls Scherhant
Just outside the left penalty area, Ziegele fouls Hertha's Scherhant. Ziegele gets booked and it's a free kick for the visitors. However, the execution fails completely. Maza's ball to Winkler bounces off the surface and under pressure from opponents, the Hertha player shoots the ball wide for a goal kick.
35'
The captain leading the way
Regensburg's Geipl has won 71 percent of his duels and has had the most touches for the hosts. It's been a strong performance from the Regensburg captain.
32'
Hottmann making his presence felt
The Regensburg striker is making his mark. First, he wins a corner, and then a free kick. However, neither set piece yields any results.

The numbers favour Hertha
The visitors have had twice as many shots on goal (4-2) as Regensburg. They have also had five corners to the host's none, and have enjoyed nearly two-thirds of the possession. However, Regensburg are fighting hard, having currently won 58 percent of the duels.
27'
Hertha taking control
The visitors from the capital are increasingly stamping their authority on the game. Their play up to the penalty area is now looking significantly better. However, Leistner heads the free-kick from Kenny well over the crossbar.

Gersbeck's day of salvation!
With a bit of luck, Adamyan gets past several Hertha players at the right corner of the penalty area. His low, sharp cross slips through to Hottmann in the six-yard box, but Gersbeck successfully separates him from the ball. Brilliant save by the Hertha Berlin 'keeper!
13'
Prevljak not yet in the game
Hertha's centre-forward has had a tough time so far against the attentive Regensburg defence. For the Bosnian Prevljak, this is his first start in over a year (last named in the starting XI in January 2024).

Many good tackles
Neither team is shying away from the tackle so far. It's been an intensive start from both sides.

Never again is always! 21st 'Remembrance Day in German Football'
80 years ago, on 27 January 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated. German football has been commemorating this event for more than 20 years, remembering the people persecuted, deported and murdered by the Nazis on matchdays around 27 January.
Gersbeck back in goal
Hertha keeper Ernst is once again only a substitute - Gersbeck has evidently established himself as the new number one and starts for the third time in a row.
Starting lineup instead of English departure
Last week, it looked as if Hertha would have to let key player Kenny go. He was left out of the squad against HSV due to an impending move to England. Now the transfer has fallen through and Kenny is back in the starting lineup.
Three changes in the Jahn starting eleven
Regensburg makes three changes compared to the 1-5 defeat in Ulm. Ernst, Hein and Hottmann start.
Prevljak starts in attack
The visitors from Berlin start with Prevljak in attack instead of Niederlechner. Additionally, Kenny, Winkler and Gechter move into the starting XI.
Hertha's starting XI
Gersbeck - Zeefuik, Leistner, Gechter - Klemens - Kenny, Cuisance, Maza, Winkler - Scherhant, Prevljak
Regensburg's starting XI
Gebhardt - Ziegele, Bulic, Breunig - Ernst, Geipl, Hein - Kühlwetter, Pröger - Hottmann, Adamyan
Andreas Patz on Hertha
"It was clear that after the heavy defeat and the manner in which we performed, we couldn't just carry on as usual. The performance in Ulm was not representative of our form in recent weeks and months. We addressed that clearly. With Hertha coming on Saturday, we face another tough challenge. We need to stay focused on our plan and be more resilient if we concede a goal."
Cristian Fiél on Regensburg
"There's no question that we're going there as favourites and want to win. If we make the mistake of thinking it will somehow work out because we're playing against the bottom team who just lost 5-1, then we'll have big problems. But the lads know that!"
Ziegele extends contract
Defender Robin Ziegele is staying with Jahn! The centre-back, who has been playing for Regensburg since 2023, has signed a new contract in Regensburg. The agreement runs until 2027.
New assistant manager for Hertha
The 'Old Lady' has added more experience to its young coaching team led by Cristian Fiél: Armin Reitershahn joins Hertha's staff as an additional assistant manager. Most recently, Reutershahn worked as an assistant coach at Dortmund, Gladbach and Frankfurt. He also shares a commonality with Fiél: In 2013, he was the head coach at Nuremberg for nine months.
Fiél-ing good
Cristian Fiél has won both of his matches as a manager against Jahn, including the match earlier this season. He also secured a 2-1 victory with Dynamo Dresden in September 2019. Current Regensburg player Florian Ballas scored the late winning goal for Fiel's team back then.
Late victory last time out
Berlin secured the 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture very late and with a man-advantage (after there was a red card for Mansour Ouro-Tagba in the 76th minute). An own goal by Felix Gebhardt in the 90th minute gave Hertha the lead, and Florian Niederlechner sealed the deal with his goal to make it 2-0 in the 6th minute of stoppage time.
Berlin's record
Hertha have won all three second division matches against Jahn Regensburg, scoring nine goals in the process (2-0, 5-1, 2-1).
