DERBYSTAR releases special match ball for 50th anniversary of Bundesliga 2 in 2024/25
To mark the 50th anniversary of Bundesliga 2, DERBYSTAR has released a special edition of the Bundesliga Brillant APS match ball that will make its debut in the opening game of the 2024/25 season between Cologne and Hamburg on 2 August – 50 years to the day since the first fixture in Germany’s then new second division.
The special ball will also be used at all other games across the first two matchdays before returning to the more colourful version of the official ball.
“The classic version for the Bundesliga last season received an overwhelming response. For the anniversary of Bundesliga 2, we have once again succeeded in transferring the design of the regular official match ball to a classic retro version. Furthermore, the 12 pentagons of our 32-piece ball construction were provided with design elements that can be found throughout our current Bundesliga collection. However, these graphics have now been designed in shades of black and grey, giving the ball its classic black and white charm,” explains Joachim Böhmer, COO of DERBYSTAR.

Official Bundesliga 2 match ball available to buy for first time
The 2. Bundesliga Brillant APS Classic complements the extensive Bundesliga ball collection for the 2024/25 season. For the first time, an official match ball from Bundesliga 2 will also be available from specialist retailers and in the DERBYSTAR online shop at www.derbystar.de.
Fans can also look forward to a replica and mini ball version of the classic ball. The entire collection is available now.
