HUGE WIN FOR COLOGNE!

The home side were on the ropes throughout the first half, and it appeared only a matter of time before Leipzig scored. The Billy Goats went ahead against the run of play early in the second half though, and even though the visitors did eventually pull a goal back, Hector scored his second of the game just moments later. Cologne are now level with Hertha on 26 points, giving them a real chance of avoiding relegation now.

KLUIVERT SURELY... BUT NO!

The ball comes to Kluivert at the back post and he seems certain to score, but he side-foots his low shot onto the outside of the upright! What a finale that would have been!

AGONISINGLY CLOSE FOR KLUIVERT!

Upamecano wins a header in the Cologne box and it comes to Kluivert at the back post. He redirects his header back across goal and it loops up, for a moment looking like it'll drop into the net, but instead floating just over.

CLOSE BUT NOT QUITE

Leipzig link up nicely down the left, with Angelino, Kampl and Hwang all involved before the ball is flicked through to Kluivert. The final ball is just too strong for the Dutchman though and it bobbles out for a goal kick.

OVER FROM SÖRLOTH

Nkunku delivers a corner from the left, deep into the Cologne penalty area. Sörloth is first to it but he's stretching as he makes contact and it flies over the bar.

HECTOR CLOSE TO A PB

Hector's brace today means he now has three goals in 16 appearances this season, leaving him needing just one more to equal his personal best tally of four, which he set last term - albeit across 29 outings.

ANOTHER ATTACKER FOR LEIPZIG

Hwang takes Mukiele's place. He joins fellow attackers Sörloth, Nkunku, Olmo, Kluivert and Angelino in the push for goals in the final stages.

SCHMITZ ON

Ehizibue was booked earlier in the game and he came away from that foul on Angelino with a verbal warning. Cologne coach Funkel is taking no chances and brings the defender off, with Schmitz taking his place at the back.

... HORN SAVES FROM ANGELINO!

Angelino takes the free-kick himself. His low shot takes a deflection on its way through, but Horn reacts well and sticks out a leg to keep it out.

RUTHLESS EFFICIENCY

Cologne have only had five shots all game, with just three of them on target, but they’ve put the ball in the net twice. Leipzig, by contrast, have had 15 efforts on goal.

Another attack-minded change as Kluivert comes on for Halstenberg as Leipzig seek a way back into this game. Cologne also make a change as Kainz replaces Wolf in attacking midfield for Cologne.

DOUBLE CHANGE

Nagelsmann already had these changes lined up before Hector's second goal, but he'll need them even more now with Olmo coming on for Forsberg and Angelino replacing Adams to give the visitors greater attacking thrust.

STUNNING FROM HAIDARA!

This is some strike from the Leipzig midfielder! Sörloth does brilliantly to hold the ball up after collecting a long ball forward. He touches it back to Halstenberg, who squares the ball to Haidara on the edge of the Cologne area. He's completely unmarked and has time to settle himself before smashing a brilliant shot past Horn! Game on!

SECOND OF THE SEASON FOR HECTOR

He doesn't get many, with just 11 in 163 Bundesliga games, but that could be one of Hector's biggest career goals. His only other strike this season was in the 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen on Matchday 24.

LEIPZIG PUSHING

That goal has put the wind in Leipzig's sails and they're throwing everything forward in search of an equaliser. Cologne are sitting deep and in numbers though, making it hard for the away side to get near Horn's goal.

COLOGNE LEAD OUT OF THE BLUE!

Cologne have been second best for most of the match but they've taken a shock lead here. Wolf produces a brilliant cross from the left, curling it towards the back post. Upamecano gets caught watching the ball, giving Cologne captain Hector a free header from six yards out, which he thunders past Gulacsi!

LEIPZIG BETTER, BUT NO GOALS

Julian Nagelsmann's side have had 13 shots at goal to Cologne's three, and really looked like scoring in the opening 10 minutes when they flew out of the traps. They've dominated proceedings so far but haven't managed to fashion a gilt-edged chance to take the lead. Cologne have only had a couple of sniffs of goal but have largely been forced to defend for most of the half.

EHIZIBUE SHOOTS

Duda's free-kick from the left is only half cleared by Leipzig and it falls to Ehizibue around 25 yards out. He shoots on the volley, but it takes a couple of deflections and doesn't cause Gulacsi any trouble.
42'

HORN DENIES SÖRLOTH

Another header for Sörloth, this time from around 12 yards out. He gets good power on the ball but it's too close to Horn and the Cologne stopper makes the save.

PASS MASTERS

Not only have Leipzig made considerably more passes than Cologne, they're also more accurate when they do, with 89 per cent of them finding a teammate, compared to Cologne's 74 per cent

DUDA POKES IT WIDE!

Cologne's second chance of the game as Leipzig give away possession cheaply in defence. A low cross from the right goes towards the near post and Duda is first to it on the stretch, but he prods it just wide of goal.
35'

NKUNKU AGAIN!

The Frenchman leaves Ehizibue on the floor after twisting this way and that inside the penalty area. He gets a shot off on his left foot from a tight angle, but his fierce drive whistles just over.

SÖRLOTH FRUSTRATED

The Leipzig forward has been lively so far, but he shows his frustration here after heading wide a few moments ago.
30'

OVER FROM NKUNKU

Leipzig win a free-kick in a central position, about 30 yards from goal. Normally it'd be one for captain Sabitzer to take, but Nkunku grabs it in his absence. He goes for goal but his shot goes high over the goal.

WIDE FROM SÖRLOTH!

An absolutely stunning cross from Halstenberg, whipping the ball from the left over Czichos and onto Sörloth's head at the back post. The Norwegian seems to be caught off guard a little as it drops to him, and he gets his angles wrong with a free header from eight yards out.
25'

FIRST SHOT FOR COLOGNE!

Hector leads a counter-attack and is momentarily two on one, with Wolf up with him for support. The Cologne captain appears to be in on goal when Upamecano slips, opening up space, but a couple of Leipzig defenders hurry back to cover. Hector still gets a shot away, firing low towards the bottom corner from 20 yards, but Gulacsi makes a comfortable save.
24'

UPAMECANO OFF TARGET

Halstenberg curls in a free-kick from the left and it finds Upamecano, arriving near the penalty spot. He gets a header on it but can only glance the ball out of the other side of the area.
21'

NKUNKU BLOCKED

Sörloth again feeds Nkunku on the inside-left channel. The Frenchman cuts inside, now on the corner of the penalty area, and gets a shot away, but Bornauw stretches out a leg and blocks it before the ball has travelled far.

WELL ORGANISED

Cologne are setting themselves up in a 4-5-1 formation when not in possession, cramming the midfield to prevent Leipzig finding any space to play through them. The lines are very close together and now the visitors, having had a flurry of chances early on, can't get behind the home defence.
13'

COLOGNE SETTLING

The Billy Goats appear to have survived the Leipzig storm - for now at least - and are beginning to string some passes together. They still haven't created any serious danger going forward, but they're no longer hemmed in around their own box.

HAIADARA AGAIN!

Another glimpse of goal for the Mali international, collecting the return pass after playing a one-two with Sörloth, but his first-time strike on his left foot from 16 yards sails over the bar.
2'

EARLY CHANCES FOR LEIPZIG!

Nkunku lays the ball off to Haidara, about 10 yards out, but the midfielder doesn't make a clean connection with his free shot at goal. Leipzig manage to recycle possession quickly and a cross comes to Forsberg at the back post. He shoots straight away but it's blocked before Horn needs to make a save!

Kick-off!

ALMOST TIME!

The players are out on the pitch. Just the pre-match formalities to go and then we'll be off!

THE STAKES

Leipzig can move to within four points of leaders Bayern, for a couple of hours at least, with victory here, but Cologne will be equally determined to get the win. The hosts have just 23 points on the board and sit in 17th, but a win would move them level with Hertha Berlin in the relegation play-off spot and just one point from outright safety.
