Paulinho is given a warm ovation as he makes way with 10 minutes to go. His goal to open the scoring currently has Leverkusen going three points clear in third.

PROMISING FROM HRUSTIC

The Australian picks up the ball on the halfway line and drives forwards, skipping past a couple of challenges. He opts to go from it from well over 20 yards out, but it lacks any power to beat ex-Frankfurt keeper Hradecky in the Leverkusen goal.

AZMOUN!

He got his first goal for the club last week and comes close to making it two with a well struck effort from right of centre just inside the box, but it's parried away by Trapp.

BRILLIANT TOTAL

Schick now has 22 Bundesliga goals for the campaign. Only Stefan Kießling has ever scored more for Leverkusen in a single season (25 in 2012/13).

THIS ONE COUNTS!

Second time Schick has had the ball in the net, second time he's been called offside. But this time it counts after VAR overrules the call, with the Czech striker slotting away Diaby's perfectly weighted through ball.

TRIPLE CHANGE

Oliver Glasner hooks the two outfield players who also started the Europa League first leg in London last Thursday. They will be needed again in three days. Hauge is also withdrawn as part of three half-time changes.

NARROW BAYER LEAD

We've seen a goal but genuine chances have been few and far between. Most of Leverkusen's opportunities have come from counter-attacks after Frankfurt gave away possession. But as it stands, Bayer are tightening their grip on third place ahead of the final two matchdays.

NOW HAUGE!

The Norwegian does very well to power his way past a couple of challenges and get into the box, but he can't keep the bouncing ball down as he opens his body looking for the far corner.

ANDRICH!

Yet again Leverkusen are able to break and run at the backtracking Frankfurt defence at pace. Azmoun is the one carrying the ball, lays it left to Andrich in space. He has options if he chooses to cut back but opts to go alone and slices wide.

FIRST EFFORT

Seven minutes to half-time and Frankfurt finally register an attempt on goal. And it's a simple enough hold for Hradecky off Paciencia from a good 20 yards out.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
The goal and one other unlikely effort from Hincapie is all we've seen so far.

TAPSOBA!

Aranguiz sends in a free-kick from deep on the right. Tapsoba is the intended target and completely unmarked at the far post, meeting it on the volley but firing wide. It wouldn't have counted in any case with the flag being raised.

BLISTERING BREAK!

Again, Leverkusen are given the space to break from their own half, but this is all about the ball from Diaby. Outside of his left foot on the run up the inside right, behind the back of the defence and into the path of Paulinho. The Brazilian then slots his effort through the legs of the scrambling Trapp.

TRAPP'S LEVERKUSEN CONNECTION

The Eintracht goalkeeper is making his 200th Bundesliga appearance for the club tonight. He actually made his first against Leverkusen as well, in a 2-1 home win in August 2012. He also suffered his first Bundesliga defeat against the Werkself, losing 1-0 with Kaiserslautern in April 2011.

WHAT’S AT STAKE FOR LEVERKUSEN?

The answer is very different for Die Werkself. They are currently third, only ahead of Freiburg on goal difference and above Leipzig – who play Gladbach now as well – by a point. Leverkusen are assured of European football next season. The only question is in which competition. Their Champions League or Europa League qualification dreams remain in their own hands, but a result tonight will keep them in the driving seat ahead of final fixtures away at Hoffenheim and – perhaps in a thrilling final day showdown – at home to Freiburg.

WHAT’S AT STAKE FOR FRANKFURT?

The answer, quite frankly, is nothing. They’re down in 10th now and can’t finish above eighth, so their Bundesliga campaign is essentially over. All their eggs are now in the Europa League basket. They hold a 2-1 lead going into their semi-final second leg at home to West Ham on Thursday. That’s why they’ve rotated so heavily.

FRANKFURT TEAM NEWS

Oliver Glasner hinted there could be some rotation for Frankfurt between their UEFA Europa League semi-final legs. Well, there are eight changes from the team that won at West Ham United on Thursday. The three players remaining are goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, defender Tuta and winger Filip Kostic. Rafael Borre serves a domestic suspension, Martin Hinteregger is ill, Jesper Lindstrom has a hamstring problem and captain Sebastian Rode is rested.

LEVERKUSEN TEAM NEWS

Gerardo Seoane makes two changes from the side that started the 4-1 win at Fürth last weekend. They see Piero Hincapie and Robert Andrich return from suspensions and come in for Mitchel Bakker and Kerem Demirbay at left-back and central midfield respectively.

WHEN THE EAGLES SOARED

Eintracht were on fire when the teams faced each other earlier in the season. Trailing by a couple of Patrik Schick goals at Deutsche Bank Park, Die Adler stormed back, scoring five times without reply through Tuta, Lindström, Ndicka, Jakic and Sow to really get the home party started.

GLASNER ASSESSES B04

Here's what visiting coach Oliver Glasner had to say about Eintracht's opponents tonight: “Leverkusen fully deserve to be competing for the Champions League places. They have a lot of pace, particularly on the flanks, and with [Patrik] Schick and [Sardar] Azmoun they have two strikers who can score goals."
camera-photo

SEAONE EXPECTS NO LET UP

Asked if he felt Eintracht might be distracted by their European commitments this week, B04 coach, Gerardo Seoane, said: "... they have a big squad. Lots of fresh players are keen to play and they want to use the opportunity to show what they can do."

EINTRACHT'S BIG WEEK

For their part, Eintracht are back in ninth spot and, with just three matches to go this season, seem unlikely to finish in the European places. Yet Oliver Glasner's men do have the small matter of a UEFA Cup semi-final second leg coming up on Thursday and winning that trophy would send Die Adler into the Champions League.

WERKSELF EYEING TOP 3 FINISH

What a race for European qualification we have in the Bundesliga. Tonight's hosts will look to consolidate third spot with a win, which would give them a three-point cushion over Freiburg, currently, fourth and maintain their advantage over Leipzig, who also play tonight and who are currently just one point behind Bayer.
