Bayern will stay top even if they lose, but Union will go first - and two points clear - with a win over Schalke tomorrow. Three points for Dortmund against Hertha would also take them level with the league leaders. Union go to Bayern next week...

Chances at both ends!
Davies does really well, but his finish doesn't match his mazy run. Gladbach go up the other end with Hofmann, who sends a cross-shot just past the far post.

Gladbach retake the lead!
Well, well. Gladbach pounce on a heavy touch from Musiala in the Bayern half. Hofmann takes it on and feeds Plea, before continuing his run into the box and tucking away the return pass from close range. Nagelsmann is furious with his team!

Danger signs
Better from Gladbach, who work it down the right. Stindl looks for Plea in the centre, but his cross is too close to Sommer.
49'
Kimmich!
Sane comes in off the right and feeds Kimmich, who drives just past the upright from the edge of the area. The way Bayern have started the second half, you'd think Gladbach are the team playing with 10 men!

Double change
Musiala and Sane are on for Bayern. Gnabry and Gravenberch make way, having been pretty subdued in the first half.

There goes Plea again as Gladbach exploit Bayern's high defensive line. He pulls his leg back on the corner of the six-yard box, but Pavard slides in to make a crucial block.

Cauldron of noise
We have a full house as the two teams take to the field at Borussia-Park. Incredible atmosphere - quintessentially Bundesliga.
Off the pace
Gladbach have won just once since the turn of the year, and are some nine points adrift of the top six, prompting Farke to say his side are not in a position to challenge for the European places.
On a roll
Bayern have won four straight games, after beginning 2023 with three successive 1-1 draws, and have lost just once all season.
Sommer loving
Gladbach fans with a tremendous show of respect for Sommer as he addresses the crowd and receives a photo collage commemorating his time at the club. He's visibly touched by the reception. What a servant he was.

Thoughts on PSG
"We've got other players who can play in a back three," Nagelsmann said after Benjamin Pavard's sending off in the 1-0 win at PSG in midweek. He went on to name Daley Blind as one of them, so clearly has the decisive second leg on his mind with this team selection. The 32-year-old Netherlands international has featured in just two of Bayern's five league games in 2023, playing 35 minutes all told, since joining the record champions on a free transfer during the winter window.
More on those teams
Marcus Thuram is only fit enough for the bench after a calf problem, so Alassane Plea leads the line. Ramy Bensebaini returns at left-back, with Stefan Lainer on the opposite flank in place of Joe Scally, who has also been battling a muscular issue. As for Bayern, there's a full debut for defender Daley Blind. Alphonso Davies replaces Joao Cancelo, Serge Gnabry comes in for the injured Kingsley Coman and Gravenberch makes a rare start in midfield. As well as Cancelo, Matthijs de Ligt, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane drop to the bench.

Farke's take
"We’re looking forward to the game. It’s always a highlight when you play against Bayern Munich, especially at home at Borussia-Park. We know we need an absolutely top performance and a lot of things have to come together. It’s a good chance for us to get the next points on the board, so we’re highly motivated to perform well and get a good result."
Sommer to "bid farewell" to Gladbach
All eyes will be on Bayern 'keeper Sommer today as he goes back to Borussia-Park for the first time as a Bayern player. And his new boss, Julian Nagelsmann, expects the Swiss international to get a proper send off from his former club today. "I think he will also be bid farewell before the game," said Nagelsmann. "That's a special moment."
