All fine for now for the hosts
Dortmund's renewed sense of defensive stability has been noted of late, and since Leipzig got their goal the hosts have done a fine job of keeping them out and taking a little of their momentum away. Five minutes plus stoppage time remain!

Bynoe-Gittens bolts away
Great run from the English substitute! Schlager eventually brings him down, no free-kick is given but he managed to bring the ball deep into the Leipzig half by then, which is rather useful at this stage of the game.

Leipzig corner
The visitors go back on the front foot as they look for an equaliser. Szoboszlai hits a corner that is headed clear at the near post, but Dortmund are struggling to keep the ball away from their danger zone right now and Leizpig come at them again.

Game on!
It was coming! A wonderful passing move sees the ball fall to Schlager, who dinks a pass over the defence for Raum on the left, who cuts it across the goalmouth for Forsberg to slide it in at the far post. What an interesting final 15 minutes we could have now...

The stand-in Dortmund keeper gets down to deny Silva when the Leipzig attacker was one-on-one with him!

Brandt slips in the box and inadvertently presents Reus with a wonderful shooting opportunity from the edge of the box. The striker tries to smash it into the roof of the net, and Blaswich makes a wonderful leap to push the ball over.

The fit-again striker snatches at an awkward opportunity from a corner and misses the target.

Just one shot in the second half so far
It has fallen for Leipzig. Dortmund will be more than happy if that trend continues!

Straight swap for Leipzig
The attack-minded David Raum replaces Halstenberg at left-back. Leipzig have remained very purposeful in the second half but they perhaps need inspiration to break through the solid Dortmund defence.

It's a good delivery, but Alexander Meyer can reach out and claim it comfortably.

Where do we go from here?
It's been a bit end to end in the second half so far, with Dortmund possibly spending more time sitting back than attacking. The way this game has gone you could easily see a few more big chances and goals coming.

Dortmund on the attack again
The hosts enjoy their first good phase of the second half. Bellingham heads wide from a free-kick, and moments later the young Englishman keeps the ball in the box well but is unable to get a shot away.

Delightful stuff for any Dortmund fan! The play has been fairly even, but the hosts have landed two killer blows to put them in a great position at the break. It's been an intense encounter though, so get set for more drama in the second period.

A penny for Marco Rose's thoughts?
Leipzig haven't done too much wrong tonight and had a few chances. They still look like being the next side to get blown away by the Dortmund juggernaut, unless the visitors can find some inspiration in the second period.
39'
Can cracks in the second!
Delight for Dortmund as they double their lead! Brandt clips in a free-kick from the right that gets cleared out to Can around 20 metres out. The midfielder's effort pings towards goal and takes a deflection off a defender and past Blaswich.
37'
Man on!
Almost a very sneaky goal for Szoboszlai. Meyer gets the ball and the Dortmund keeper prepares to make a long clearance when the Hungarian sprints down and blocks him - but the ball ricochets off him and behind for a goal kick.
35'
Halstenberg hoists over
Decent chance for Leipzig! Szoboszlai whips a free-kick in from the right that Orban's misplaced header sends out to Forsberg on the left. The Swede puts it back into the box with Halstenberg lurking at the far post and he lifts it just over on the volley with only Meyer to beat.

Brandt goal ruled out
Early drama! Julian Brandt has been integral to Dortmund's current sensational run and he though he had landed an early blow tonight with a crisp finish after a great move. The ball is moved around to Bellingham, who chips a gorgeous ball over the defence for the German to take down and fire in. The strike is checked by VAR though, and as Brandt handled it when taking the ball down it won't count.

Szoboszlai stinger
The Hungarian trickster is in red-hot form and stings Meyer's hands with a drive from 20 metres out, but ultimately it's too close to the stand-in keeper to trouble him. Bright start from Leipzig though!

Dortmund team news
Two changes for Dortmund - despite their seven-match winning run. Julian Ryerson, who has impressed since signing from Union Berlin in January, is back in after a minor injury - though he is likely to play at left-back with Guerreiro dropping to the subs bench and Marius Wolf keeping his right-back starting berth. Özcan comes into midfield at the expense of Bynoe-Gittens.
Leipzig team news
So Christopher Nkunku makes his first start since 12 November having recovered from a knee injury. He is one of four changes for Leipzig compared to last weekend's 2-1 win over Frankfurt. Schlager and Haidara slot into defensive midfield for Kampl and the suspended Laimer, while Andre Silva also comes into the attack with Poulsen and Werner sitting this one out at the start.

Watch: Previous meeting: Leipzig 3-0 Dortmund
BVB not used to trailing
The hosts have been behind in their nine games in 2023 for the grand total of just two minutes (on Matchday 17 in Mainz). Eight of their 15 league wins this season have been by a single goal, including five 1-0s.
Fortunes changing?
After losing two of the first three encounters, Dortmund went on an eight-game unbeaten run against Leipzig (W6, D2), including the 2021 DFB Cup final. But since then, RB have won three on the spin in this fixture, including a 4-1 thumping at the Signal Iduna Park last season.
The return of Rose
Marco Rose returns to Dortmund for the first time since leaving in the summer. BVB actually have the exact same record as they did this stage last season under him (46 points: W15, D1, L6). His record of 2.2 points per game at the helm of Leipzig is the best by any coach in their Bundesliga history. He began his reign at the Red Bull Arena with a 3-0 win over Dortmund. No team has earned more points in the Bundesliga since he took charge (37 in 17 games).
Europe’s form team
Dortmund are the only top-tier club in Europe to have won all nine of their competitive fixtures in 2023, including seven in the Bundesliga. Their club records are 11 wins in a row across competitions and eight on the spin in the Bundesliga.
