Watch: Previous meeting: Schalke 2-3 Augsburg

Augsburg raced to a 2-0 lead in the opening 21 minutes in Gelsenkirchen back in early October, and although Schalke managed to equalise at 2-2 in the 63rd minute, the 10-man visitors still took all three points thanks to Andre Hahn's winner.

Danger men

Between them, Mergim Berisha (eight) and Ermedin Demirovic (seven) are responsible for almost half of all Augsburg's 31 goals so far in 2022/23.

Schalke on a roll

The Royal Blues may still be near the foot of the table but they have been much improved in 2023 and are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run (two wins, five draws). Dortmund are the only other Bundesliga team yet to lose in the second half of the season.

Home fortress

Augsburg have won each of their last four home matches and could now equal their club record of five consecutive home victories, set in autumn 2014.
