Final few minutes

The outcome of this game has been clear for quite some time. Dortmund are looking to claw another goal back but Bayern appear the most likely to strike again with the visiting defence struggling to contain them.

Gnabry goal disallowed

The German international delivers a delicious chip into the net on the half volley, but the strike is ruled out for offside.
83'

Musiala pulls shot wide

Bayern win the ball in the Dortmund danger area as Kobel misplaces a clearance. Musiala goes clear on the target and tries to shimmy around the away goalkeeper, who reacts well to force him to deflect a shot wide.
79'

Another Bayern double swap

Musiala and Cancelo bring more class into the game from the Bayern bench.
79'

Gnabry to Mane

Dortmund's defence is split wide open yet again. Gnabry pulls the ball across to Mane at the far post, who would have seen the goal gaping, had there not been a bit too much on Gnabry's pass.
77'

Dortmund still plugging away

The visitors are taking the ball forward when they can, but Bayern remain comfortable enough at the back with the unassailable three-goal lead.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
Dortmund have the one goal they were expected to get. Bayern's attacking class has seen them pull away into such a commanding lead.

What they're saying - Tuchel

"There's no bigger challenge than starting my time here with a game against Dortmund," Tuchel said at his official unveiling. "It's the biggest game in German football, and has an added element to it, given the current state of the league table. Dortmund are on a fantastic run of form [but] that won't stop us from going into the challenge with excitement and anticipation."

Dortmund squad nearing completion?

Julian Brandt, Gregor Kobel and Youssoufa Moukoko have all been absent in recent weeks for Dortmund, while Nico Schlotterbeck left the Germany camp earlier in the week due to a muscular complaint. However, Black-and-Yellow fans can be hopeful that all four players will be available for the game. "I have a very good feeling that I'll be ok by the weekend," said Schlotterbeck. Meanwhile, sporting director Sebastian Kehl said he believes Moukoko "will be in the squad" and is hopeful that "we'll have a big group in training by the end of the week and can travel to Munich with confidence and a full squad".

A total of 346 goals have been scored in the 107 league meetings so far: 215 for Bayern, 131 for BVB. That equates to an average of 3.23 per game. As there have only been five goalless draws over the years, the chances are good we'll see a few more goals on Saturday!

Baptism of fire

Julian Nagelsmann was dismissed as Bayern head coach with immediate effect on 24 March, with club CEO Oliver Kahn reasoning that "the quality in our squad - despite the Bundesliga title last year - has come to the fore less and less often". Saturday night's alright for FCB

The record champions do tend to like a kick-about of a Saturday eve. Bayern have not been on the losing end in a Saturday showpiece, evening game in 25 previous encounters (20 wins, five draws).

In-form Guerreiro

What a year the Portuguese footballing prince Raphael Guerreiro is having! The 29-year-old has been directly involved in more goals in 2023 than any other player in the Bundesliga. Guerreiro has two goals and seven assists to his name since the turn of the year and will likely have a crucial role to play in any BVB success in Bavaria at the weekend.

Bayern's in-house dominance

BVB fans looks away now. Saturday's hosts have won their last eight Bundesliga home games against Dortmund (with an aggregate goal difference of 33-6).

A truly top battle

Incredibly, this is the 13th time in the last 12 years - and 19th time in total - that Bayern and Dortmund meet as the first and second (or vice versa) placed teams in the division.

When last they met

An immense spectacle back in October saw these teams play out a 2-2 draw. Bayern had at one point led 2-0 and were cruising, but BVB fought back to grab a dramatic last-gasp point, with Anthony Modeste becoming an instant hero at Signal Iduna Park as a result.

Klassiker engines revving

What a game we have in store at the Allianz Arena! Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern are in the unaccustomed position - at least in recent memory - of playing catch up as we begin April. Their Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, lead the way at the top of the standings after a tremendous 2023. This one is going to be tasty.
