Musiala dances his way through, only for Tapsoba to stick out a boot to prod the ball to safety. The Bayern fans think it's a penalty, but there was nothing in that. Super challenge!

Tapsoba ticking off

A clear tactical foul from Tapsoba to stop Kane rolling away and breaking into Leverkusen territory. That's a yellow card all day long.
65'

Corner threat

Sane sends over a corner from the left. Upamecano gets his head to it, but can't direct the ball on goal. Another opening from a set-piece, though - that'll concern Alonso.
61'

Double change

Musiala, who was a doubt earlier in the week, replaces Müller. Right-back Mazraoui's also on for Kimmich, so Laimer will move into central midfield.
57'

Incredible save!

Kane only has the goalkeeper to beat from 11 yards, but Hradecky somehow gets his outstretched boot to the shot.
55'

Denied!

Bonifice chases down Ulreich, forcing a rushed clearance from the Bayern keeper. Hofmann collects and finds Wirtz, who feeds Frimpong to his right, but Ulreich is out to block before the lineman's flag is raised for offside.

More on those teams

Joshua Kimmich gets the green light to start for Bayern, but Jamal Musiala is only fit enough for a place on the bench. Thomas Müller continues in the No.10 role, albeit with Serge Gnabry instead of the injured Kingsley Coman to his left. Midfielder Konrad Laimer is preferred to Noussair Mazraoui at right-back, meanwhile, following an impressive cameo in the role against Gladbach. As for Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso makes his first starting change of the campaign. Robert Andrich replaces midfielder Exequiel Palacios, who is on the bench after his travels with Argentina.

They host Man United in the UEFA Champions League next week, before facing Bochum, Münster (DFB Cup), RB Leipzig, Copenhagen and Freiburg. Kane at Bayern to win it all

Kane has opened up on his move to Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur, saying that team honours are more important to him than individual. "It's definitely a different pressure compared to what I felt at Spurs," the striker told The Independent's Miguel Delaney. "Of course we wanted to win things at Spurs but if you went a couple of games without winning then it wasn't a disaster. The feeling at Bayern is that you have to win every game. We've had a good start and I'm enjoying feeling those different emotions and that's part of the reason that I wanted to go. So you're going into those games with maybe a different feeling to what I've had in the past."

#4everGerd

Bayern have officially unveiled a statue of the club's record goalscorer, Gerd Müller, at their iconic Allianz Arena home. The sculpture, which sits proudly along the Allianz Arena walkway, was created by the artist Karel Fron and financed through donation from supporters of Bayern and its fan clubs. Made entirely of bronze, the statue showcases Müller in full goal celebration mode, something he was able to do 568 times for the club across a storied career. Müller died on 15 August 2021, aged 75.

Alonso's winning formula

Alonso - who won three titles with Bayern as a player - has named the same starting line-up in each of the first three games of the season. He's only the second Leverkusen coach to do so, after Erich Ribbeck in 1986/87.

Kane watch

Kane scored a brace on his first start at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 2 (3-1 vs. Augsburg), following up his Bundesliga debut goal and assist in Bremen. He was kept quiet in Mönchengladbach prior to the international break, but brought up his 59th international goal for England earlier this week.

Müller magic!

Thomas Müller turned 34 on Wednesday, the day after he scored his 45th international goal in Germany's 2-1 win against France. Bayern's so-called 'space invader' has now racked up 123 caps for his country and he will be eyeing a spot in Thomas Tuchel's starting line-up this weekend.

Kimmich watch

Joshua Kimmich faces a race against time to be fit for Friday night's big encounter. The Bayern No.6 picked up a muscular complaint while on international duty with Germany and will be assessed at his club in the build-up to the Leverkusen game. Konrad Laimer could be an alternative in the position should Kimmich fail to make it.

Leverkusen on fire

The challenge posed by Die Werkself, though, will be no stroll in the park. Leverkusen also come into the match with a 100% record, and even sit above Bayern in the table thanks to their superior goal difference. Granit Xhaka has provided experience and composure in the middle of the park, as has Jonas Hofmann on the wing, but Victor Boniface has been the star of the show up until now. With four goals and two assists in his first three Bundesliga outings, he has the ability to cause Thomas Tuchel's side all sorts of problems.

Bayern race out of the blocks

It has been a characteristically strong start for Der Rekordmeister. After three games, they have nine points, beating Bremen 4-0, Augsburg 3-1 and Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 so far. New star signing Harry Kane has three goals to his name already, as does Leroy Sane, and the visit of Leverkusen offers the opportunity to already put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack.

Head-to-head

Bayern have had the upper hand in recent fixtures between the two, winning six of the previous eight meetings. Leverkusen have won just two out of the previous nine meanwhile, with their last victory at the Allianz Arena coming courtesy of a 2-1 triumph in 2019.
