Tapsoba to the rescue
Musiala dances his way through, only for Tapsoba to stick out a boot to prod the ball to safety. The Bayern fans think it's a penalty, but there was nothing in that. Super challenge!

Tapsoba ticking off
A clear tactical foul from Tapsoba to stop Kane rolling away and breaking into Leverkusen territory. That's a yellow card all day long.
65'
Corner threat
Sane sends over a corner from the left. Upamecano gets his head to it, but can't direct the ball on goal. Another opening from a set-piece, though - that'll concern Alonso.

Double change
Musiala, who was a doubt earlier in the week, replaces Müller. Right-back Mazraoui's also on for Kimmich, so Laimer will move into central midfield.

Incredible save!
Kane only has the goalkeeper to beat from 11 yards, but Hradecky somehow gets his outstretched boot to the shot.

Denied!
Bonifice chases down Ulreich, forcing a rushed clearance from the Bayern keeper. Hofmann collects and finds Wirtz, who feeds Frimpong to his right, but Ulreich is out to block before the lineman's flag is raised for offside.

Boniface from downtown!
Superb effort from a man very much in form as Boniface takes aim from halfway, landing the ball on the roof of the Bayern net. Not sure the back-tracking Ulreich would have got to it!

Wirtz joins Hofmann in the book, after deliberately delaying a Bayern free-kick.

Here we go again!
Just the one change at the break, with Palacios on in central midfield for Andrich. The 2022 World Cup winner scored twice from the spot to give Leverkusen the win over Bayern back in March...

Chances for Bayern!
Hradecky repels a Goretzka header at point-blank range. Bayern are soon on the attack again with Gnabry, whose shot across goal is beaten away once more by the Leverkusen No.1.

Fingertips!
Hradecky flies to his right to get the slightest of touches on the in-form Sane's 18-yard strike. This really is blink-and-you'll-miss it football!

Pure power!
Boniface shows incredible power to shrug off Upamecano. He then slips the ball through the Bayern defender's legs, before seeing his rising goal-bound strike blocked by Kim.

Leverkusen's main man does score this time, but the flag is up for a clear offside. Suddenly, it's the visitors asking all the questions...

What. A. Goal!
Just what the doctor ordered for Leverkusen! Müller concedes a free-kick around 20 yards from the Bayern goal, just off centre. Grimaldo steps up and finds the top corner. Simply stunning.
22'
Wirtz!
Leverkusen up the ante with Hofmann, who plays an inviting ball right across the face of goal. Wirtz is arriving at the back post, but can't get anything on it.

Chance not taken
Hradecky gets a big punch on another arrowed Sane corner. Wirtz leads the counter and has Boniface unmarked to his left, but Laimer makes a timely block on the edge of the Bayern area.

Bayern on the front foot
Frimpong does well to stand up to the rampaging Gnabry. Bayern recycle possession, though, with Hradecky first to a probing Kimmich cross, with Kane lurking.

Frimpong spring to life
Better from Leverkusen as Frimpong wins a corner. Bayern don't deal with it initially, but no one in a black shirt can take advantage.
11'
Over from Sane!
Bayern come again with Gnabry. Müller's pass into the box isn't the best, but Sane is able to collect on the edge of the area. He shifts it onto his preferred left foot, before ballooning off target. Leverkusen are all at sea.
8'
Bayern lead!
Bayern's bright start is rewarded. Müller wins a corner after his cut-back is put behind. Sane's in-swinger is flicked on at the near post, and there's Kane on the opposite side to head home unmarked. Four Bundesliga goals for him!

Goretzka tries to feed the run of Kane, but overcooks his pass and Hradecky can gather.

More on those teams
Joshua Kimmich gets the green light to start for Bayern, but Jamal Musiala is only fit enough for a place on the bench. Thomas Müller continues in the No.10 role, albeit with Serge Gnabry instead of the injured Kingsley Coman to his left. Midfielder Konrad Laimer is preferred to Noussair Mazraoui at right-back, meanwhile, following an impressive cameo in the role against Gladbach. As for Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso makes his first starting change of the campaign. Robert Andrich replaces midfielder Exequiel Palacios, who is on the bench after his travels with Argentina.

Busy weeks ahead
This is the first of seven competitive fixtures across the next three weeks for Bayern. They host Man United in the UEFA Champions League next week, before facing Bochum, Münster (DFB Cup), RB Leipzig, Copenhagen and Freiburg. Leverkusen also have domestic and European commitments to juggle, albeit in the Europa League. However, Die Werkself play one game fewer during the period in question, having already come through the DFB Cup opening round.

Bayern have officially unveiled a statue of the club's record goalscorer, Gerd Müller, at their iconic Allianz Arena home. The sculpture, which sits proudly along the Allianz Arena walkway, was created by the artist Karel Fron and financed through donation from supporters of Bayern and its fan clubs. Made entirely of bronze, the statue showcases Müller in full goal celebration mode, something he was able to do 568 times for the club across a storied career. Müller died on 15 August 2021, aged 75.
Alonso's winning formula
Alonso - who won three titles with Bayern as a player - has named the same starting line-up in each of the first three games of the season. He's only the second Leverkusen coach to do so, after Erich Ribbeck in 1986/87.
Kane watch
Kane scored a brace on his first start at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 2 (3-1 vs. Augsburg), following up his Bundesliga debut goal and assist in Bremen. He was kept quiet in Mönchengladbach prior to the international break, but brought up his 59th international goal for England earlier this week.

Kimmich watch
Joshua Kimmich faces a race against time to be fit for Friday night's big encounter. The Bayern No.6 picked up a muscular complaint while on international duty with Germany and will be assessed at his club in the build-up to the Leverkusen game. Konrad Laimer could be an alternative in the position should Kimmich fail to make it.
