Too little, too late
Alassane Pléa slots the ball through the Wolfsburg defence for Fukuda, who shows great composure to finish from the edge of the area.
88'
Easy peasy
This has been a spectacular second-half collapse from Gladbach. Wolfsburg break forward in numbers, with Wimmer sliding the ball through to Joakim Mæhle, who draws the goalkeeper before sliding it to his right to Nmecha for another simple tap-in.
85'
Nmecha grabs his first of the season
Wimmer sprints forward down the right to collect Amoura's pass. He's given plenty of time and space to pick out a cross towards the back post, giving Nmecha the easiest of tap-ins from close range.

Game, set and match
That's surely the win for Wolfsburg now as Arnold charges into the box on the left, holds off his marker and squeezes a shot across goal and just inside the far post.

Fresh legs
The Wolves are away to Bayern Munich on Saturday afternoon so Hasenhüttl has given two of the best performers today a well-earned break.

Double change
It's been the veritable game of two halves here. Gladbach were well on top in the first 45 minutes, even if Wolfsburg took the lead, but the hosts have been by far the better of the two since the restart.

What a goal!
This is such a well-worked goal! Joakim Mæhle picks up the ball wide on the left and immediately spins Hack before driving down the left. He cuts inside and spies Wind in the box with his back to goal. Mæhle slides the ball into his team-mate's feet and sprints forward, anticipating the return pass before slotting in from close range. A superb goal!

Next chance for Gerhardt!
Some beautiful play from Wolfsburg picks apart the Gladbach defence and suddenly Gerhardt is all alone as he bears down on goal. He inexplicably dallies on the ball though, allowing Elvedi to race back and nick the ball off his toe.
52'
Over from Gerhardt
Wimmer whips in a brilliant cross from the right with his weaker right foot and finds Gerhardt in the middle, but the midfielder can't keep his head down and it sails over the bar. That was a great chance for Wolfsburg to extend their lead.
50'
Post!
Amoura, just inside the right-hand side of the Gladbach area, curls a shot with the outside of his right foot towards the far post. Nicolas is well beaten but the ball hits the upright and bounces away.

Here we go again! No changes from either side at the break.

Chance for Dardai!
A swift break forward from the Wolves ends with the ball being rolled to Dardai on the edge of the box. He takes a touch to steady himself before shooting but his effort is deflected out for a corner.

Hack has a go!
A well-worked corner is played to Hack, lurking just outside the penalty box. His shot from distance is heading towards the bottom corner but Kamil Grabara dives down to his right to make a fine save.

First opening for Gladbach!
Čvančara gets in on goal and tries to chip the ball over Kamil Grabara but the goalkeeper stands tall to make a good save.

Chance for Wind!
Receiving the ball just inside the Gladbach box, the Danish forward shoots at goal but drags his right-footed effort just wide.

Wolfsburg lead!
Wind steps up to take the penalty and coolly tucks it away with his right foot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Penalty to Wolfsburg
A clumsy tackle from Weigl as he arrives late to the ball, felling Dardai as he does so. The referee has no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

More on those teams - Gladabach
Gerardo Seoane has made a handful of changes following his team's 1-0 defeat in Munich, chief among them being Čvančara coming in for Kleindienst up front, with the Germany striker absent due to a stomach bug. Elsewhere, Stöger comes in for Sander in midfield and Netz takes Ullrich's place at left-back.

The last time the Wolves recorded two wins to start a new year was in 2023, when they beat Freiburg 6-0 and then Hertha Berlin 5-0. Incidentally, that was the same year that the Foals last started a new year with consecutive defeats.
