Full-time: Hoffenheim 2-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

An exhilarating, end-to-end game finishes all square at the PreZero Arena. Hoffenheim were impressive in managing to stay on the front foot for the majority of the game, with the visitors soaking up the pressure well in the first-half. Ekitiké opened the scoring for Frankfurt despite the strong start from the hosts, and they maintained their lead until just after the hour mark. Having managed to retake the lead shortly after, it looked like it might not be Hoffenheim's day, only for Hložek to pop up and volley his side level with the final whistle looming.

Half-time: Hoffenheim 0-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Despite a positive display and plenty of possession around the Frankfurt box, the hosts go into the break a goal down. The visitors have weathered the storm well for the most part, whilst also looking dangerous when they have gone forward. The only goal of the game so far came from the spot, with Ekitiké slotting home from 12 yards after Akpoguma's clumsy foul.

Captain Kramarić

With Oliver Baumann absent (see below post), Hoffenheim's Andrej Kramarić takes the captain's armband against Frankfurt. The Croatian has done the skipper honours for TSG five times in the past in the Bundesliga, the last coming in May 2022.
camera-photo

No Elye Wahi, yet

Eintracht's newest signing, Elye Wahi, is not in today's squad for this Matchday 19 encounter in Sinsheim. The 22-year-old forward - brought in to replace Omar Marmoush - must thus wait to make his Bundesliga debut for the Eagles.
camera-photo

Baumann run ends

Prior to today, Hoffenheim's Germany international goalkeeper Oliver Baumann had been in goal for the last 107 consecutive Bundesliga games. The custodian picked up a tendon injury in his foot during Thursday's UEFA Europa League loss against Tottenham Hotspur, however, and is now sidelined for the foreseeable future. "This is a bitter setback for us all," Hoffenheim's managing director for sport, Andreas Schicker, said. "Oli will not be able to help us on the pitch as captain in the near future, but thanks to his strong personality he will continue to play his usual important role in the team and support the entire squad."
camera-photo

More on those teams

TSG's cause hasn't been helped by their goalkeeper and captain and Oliver Baumann's absence with a foot injury. Luca Philipp steps between the posts to make his Bundesliga debut. Finn Becker and David Jurásek also come in for the hosts. Eintracht, meanwhile, are showing just one change from the side started the win against Dortmund last time out, with Can Uzun replacing Nathaniel Brown, who misses out with an illness.

Dino Toppmöller's view on facing Hoffenheim

"I expect a dynamic game because Hoffenheim definitely want to play football. Both teams like to get forward and both have top attacking players, which means we could see a lot of transition play. At the same time, we should prioritise solid defending and good structure in possession to avoid being caught out on the counter. The boys have done that well in recent games."
camera-photo

Christian Ilzer's view on facing Frankfurt

"They're doing a really good job. The team has gelled very well, there have been some really good transfers. Frankfurt have enormous potential with a lot of pace, and they're particularly dangerous when they're switching from defence to attack. We have to be ready for that. The work being done in Frankfurt can only be praised."

All systems Hu-go

Ekitiké has put Frankfurt 1-0 up in a league-high five games so far this season. Eintracht have won four of them, including against Hoffenheim on Matchday 2, whilst drawing the other.
