The Bayern duo complete a 100-strong list of playable legends within the FIFA Ultimate Team world, including fellow former Germany stars such as Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose and Lothar Matthäus.

Schweinsteiger has the distinct honour of being added as an icon in the FIFA world less than 12 months after retiring from the game. The 36-year-old midfielder made exactly 500 appearances for Bayern during his time with the club, winning eight Bundesliga titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy as captain - and had the honour of leading Germany to the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

Lahm's arrival as a FUT icon comes a little later after his retirement, but his place is just as worthy as that of Schweinsteiger. The pair have celebrated Bundesliga, DFB Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Cup glory together, with Lahm providing a tasty defensive incentive for FUT players.

The official ratings for both Schweinsteiger and Lahm are yet to be announced, but both players are due to receive three different forms of their player card, reflecting the three most iconic periods of their illustrious careers.

FIFA 21 itself is due to be released by EA Sports on 6 October with Schweinsteiger and Lahm now providing a highlight for all Bundesliga fans who play the game, as well as using their favourite stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.
