Bayern Munich's 2022 USA tour review
Bayern Munich were back on their first proper tour since 2019 after touching down in the USA for their 2022 Audi Summer Tour, which included friendlies against DC United and Manchester City.

When was the tour?
Bayern began their fifth summer trip to the USA on Monday, 18 July and spent a week across the Atlantic before returning to Germany on Sunday, 24 July ahead of their first competitive fixture of the 2022/23 season when they take on RB Leipzig in the Supercup.
Where did Bayern visit?
The Munich club touched down in the capital, Washington DC, where they trained and took in the sights until Friday, 22 July. After that, they hopped over to Wisconsin for a two-day visit to Green Bay. It was fewer destinations than their 2019 tour when they took in Los Angeles, Houston and Kansas.

What matches did they play?
The Bundesliga champions played two friendly fixtures whilst over in the States.
The first saw them them take on local Major League Soccer side DC United at the 20,000-capacity Audi Field in Washington on 20 July, running out 6-2 winners. Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt both scored on their debuts for the club.

Mane was unavailable for a storm-interrupted second fixture as Bayern lost to an Erling Haaland goal in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Which players travelled?
All of Bayern’s senior squad have now returned to training at Säbener Straße, including new additions Sadio Mane, Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui. Leon Goretzka is the only first-team player who didn't travel after undergoing knee surgery. Otherwise, everyone else was on the plane to Washington, including USMNT international defender Chris Richards. A number of youth players were also on board, including forward Lucas Copado, full-back David Herold and goalkeeper Jakob Mayer, as coach Julian Nagelsmann makes final decisions on his squad going into the season. New recruit Matthijs de Ligt joined his new teammates Stateside just hours after signing, going on to feature and score in the first friendly.
What else happened?
As ever on these tours, there were training sessions and plenty of fan experiences arranged where supporters got to meet their favourite players up close after so many years of having to keep a distance. The Bayern players were also treated to a visit to the White House, home of the President of the United States of America, in Washington DC.
