'Rivals but Friends' by Milka celebrates Bochum-Bayern Munich fan friendship
Michelle and Steffi are fans of Bochum and Bayern Munich - two clubs with not a lot in common in terms of footballing history, but ones that share the Bundesliga's longest fan friendship.
'Rivals bu Friends' by Milka takes a closer look at the Bochum-Bayern bond...
Although Michelle lives in Munich, she's actually a Bochum supporter. Steffi, on the other hand, is all about Bayern. Two supporters of different clubs with different goals - but united by a unique, long-standing alliance.
The story goes that 'Bochumer Jungen', the Ruhr club's oldest fan group, stepped in to stop some other Bochum supporters from attacking some of their Bayern counterparts following a defeat to the record champions on 3 November 1973. After a reconciliatory drink, contact details were exchanged and the seeds planted for the fan group bromance, which is still going strong to this day.
Michelle's grandfather was there on that game-changing November afternoon in Bochum, while Steffi's father has long since been active in maintaining the bond between Bayern and VfL, embraced and cherished by their offspring - no matter their respective club's fortunes on the hallowed turf.
