Harry Kane hat-trick helps Bayern Munich to table-topping rout of Bochum
Harry Kane registered a hat-trick of goals and brace of assists as Bayern Munich thumped Bochum to go top of the Bundesliga.
Bayern 7-0 Bochum
Goals: 1-0 Choupo-Moting 4' (assist: Coman), 2-0 Kane 12' (assist: Davies), 3-0 De Ligt 29' (assist: Kimmich), 4-0 Sané 38' (assist: Kane), 5-0 Kane (pen. 54'), 6-0 Tel 81' (assist: Kane), 7-0 Kane 89' (assist: Sané)
Fresh from a 4-3 win over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League, Bayern served notice of their intent when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting forced Manuel Riemann into a save he knew little about inside 35 seconds. The recalled Cameroonian forward made no mistake with his second attempt, turning home Kingsley Coman's back-post cross for 1-0. Alphonso Davies set up Kane for a confident first-time finish as Bayern turned the screw. Kane ballooned over soon after, but a third goal did arrive courtesy of Matthijs de Ligt's towering header from a corner. Riemann kept out Choupo-Moting, before Leroy Sané got in on the act, the in-form winger applying a fine finish to Kane's defence-splitting pass. Riemann twice denied Kane late in a first half to savour for the defending champions.
It remained one-way traffic into the second period as Dayot Upamecano - on for de Ligt at the break - tested Riemann from a corner. Ivan Ordets gave away possession and a penalty for handball in his attempt to atone, with Kane duly sending Riemann the wrong way from the spot. Coman tested Riemann and clipped the woodwork as Bayern laid siege to the Bochum goal. Riemann parried from Kane and Bundesliga debutant Frans Krätzig, but Bayern were not done yet. After setting up substitute Mathys Tel for a fine finish, Kane touched in Sané's drive to complete his first Bundesliga hat-trick on a rampant afternoon for the league leaders.
