Bayern Munich provide Harry Kane ankle injury update
Harry Kane has returned early from international duty with England as he continues his recovery from injury at Bayern Munich headquarters.
Kane scored his 31st Bundesliga goal of the season - a German record for a debut top-flight campaign - in Bayern's 5-2 win at Darmstadt, before being substituted off in the 82nd minute after colliding with a goal post.
Following tests on the injury, the England captain was given the all-clear to link up with his country for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, and receive treatment whilst there in close consultation with the Bayern medical team.
Bayern subsequently confirmed Kane returned to the club to finish his recovery having sat out England's 1-0 defeat to Brazil. At the beginning of this week, the Bavarian giants posted an update on the club's official website that read, "Harry Kane completed an individual training session at FC Bayern’s training ground on Monday morning. The 30-year-old striker worked with the ball on the pitch at Säbener Straße alongside fitness coach Holger Broich."
All being well, Kane will be fit to face Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on 30 March and resume his pursuit of Robert Lewandowski's single-season goals record. With eight rounds of fixtures remaining, the 30-year-old needs another 10 goals to equal the 41-strike gold standard, set in 2020/21.
Watch: Harry Kane made more history against Darmstadt
As well as hitting 31 goals in his first 26 Bundesliga appearances, Kane's scored six times in the UEFA Champions League to help Bayern set up a quarter-final showdown with English Premier League title candidates Arsenal, with the two legs to be played on 9 and 17 April. He also has the UEFA 2024 Euros in Germany to look forward to in the summer.
