Bayern Munich's Harry Kane marks milestone with yet another record
As Bayern Munich triumphed 4-3 over Holstein Kiel on Bundesliga Matchday 20, England goal machine Harry Kane was at the centre of the action, not only securing the win with a brace in his 50th Bundesliga appearance, but also setting an epic Bundesliga goalscoring record.
The Allianz Arena in Munich is a venue befitting German football's greatest moments, and on Matchday 20, Bundesliga fans were treated to yet another record-breaking display from Harry Kane as Bayern Munich played host to Holstein Kiel. With a majestic brace against the Storks, the English goalscorer etched his name that much deeper into Bundesliga history: 55 goals in 50 games – a record that eclipses Erling Haaland's 50 goals in 50 Bundesliga games.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but it was King Harry who soon took over. In the 45th minute, just before half-time, the England forward rose to lofty heights to head Kingsley Coman's pinpoint cross home to make it 2-0. The insatiable striker was back it it soon afterwards, nodding home once again - this time from Raphaël Guerreiro - to complete his brace shortly after the re-start.
Not only did the king show his pedigree, but he did so with a ruthless efficiency that suggests further records may still fall: two shots, two goals for a 100 per cent success rate. It was also the first time that the striker had scored two headers in a single Bundesliga game – another jewel to add to his crown.

Modest as ever
Serge Gnabry made it 4-0 in the 54th minute, but Kiel fought back. Finn Porath hit a screamer just after the hour and Steven Skrzybski shocked Bayern with a late brace (90'+1, 90'+3). Nonetheless, Bayern held firm and, along with their win, celebrated having scored three or more goals in eight consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in over 31 years (in 1993 under coach Erich Ribbeck).
"Whoever I play, I try and help my team with goals and it was nice to get a couple today," Bayern's 31-year-old goal-getter told bundesliga.com after the Kiel win. "Sometimes you have opponents that you score more goals against than others. We played a couple of good games home and away now (against Kiel); we've had two good performances against them," the striker added.

Saturday's brace also marked the fifth time this season that the Bayern star has two or more goals in a game. Now with 19 goals and six assists, Kane has also overtaken Omar Marmoush, who moved to Manchester City, in terms of total goal involvements (25).
When Kane moved to Bavaria in the summer of 2023, there was great anticipation. Today, a year and a half later, it is clear that the Englishman is more than keen to keep rattling in the goals at an unprecedented rate in the hopes of adding titles to what is already a glittering career.

Bayern's Bundesliga rivals - notably Matchday 21 opponents Werder Bremen - and upcoming Champions League Play-offs opponents Celtic have been warned: King Kane's reign is far from over.
