Kingsley Coman in contention for Bayern Munich's UEFA Champions League tie at Liverpool
Bayern Munich have been handed a major boost concerning the fitness of winger Kingsley Coman ahead of Tuesday’s visit to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
The France international starred away at Augsburg on Friday, scoring twice in a 3-2 win, but his evening ended in distress when he was withdrawn late on with what appeared to be an injury to his left ankle.
Coman’s progress at Bayern has been severely hampered by fitness problems in recent months. He missed last summer’s FIFA World Cup having had surgery on an ankle problem, and also went under the knife for a recurrence of the injury on the opening day of this season.
Coach Niko Kovac will therefore be delighted that the news is positive this time around, after Bayern confirmed that following an examination by the club’s medical department on Saturday morning, Coman’s injury is not severe and he remains in contention to feature at Anfield in the Round of 16 first leg.
