Bayern Munich are all set for one more European campaign and Vincent Kompany's talented troupe will line out under the UEFA Champions League lights in a dashing new kit, which the club released to plenty of fanfare.

The last of Bayern's Champions League triumphs came as recently as 2020, when the Bavarian giants defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Lisbon. This time around the Bundesliga's record winners will take to an updated tournament format wearing a new kit which the club say embodies the philosophy that "tradition must triumph."

"The retro design of the jersey for this year's Champions League season features the emblem of the 1970 to 1979 seasons directly over the heart," Bayern's official website adds.

Club legend Bastian Schweinsteiger - a Champions League winner with Bayern in the all-German final of 2013 - is featured modelling the team's impressive new kit while some of this season's star turns like Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller are also present.

"The new Champions League kit, designed by FC Bayern and adidas in cooperation with Bureau Borsche München, combines red and white, the colours from within the very DNA of the German record champions, with a tonal diamond graphic," the club explains.

Goalkeeper, club captain and two-time Champions League winner Manuel Neuer, meanwhile, models a dashing black kit that is set to be on display in Bayern's first home game of the season against Freiburg on 1 September. "This time, there is a matching goalkeeper kit too in black, also embroidered with the retro logos," the Bavarian team says.
