Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany discharged from hospital
Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has been discharged from hospital after collapsing at the club’s training ground last week.
Kompany, 40, was taken ill during a second-team training session last Friday, forcing him to miss Bayern’s games against Freiburg in the Bundesliga and Magdeburg in the DFB Cup.
The Belgian has been diagnosed with a meningeal irritation - an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the brain and spinal cord - but is “doing well, given the circumstances”, according to Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl.
Watch: Well wishes for Kompany

“[His discharge] is the biggest and best news for all of us,” Eberl told German broadcaster ARD before Bayern’s 6-1 win over Magdeburg on Wednesday. “He will now rest and take medication.
“I’m very confident that he will be back on the touchline, operating at 100 percent, very soon.”
No timeline has been set for Kompany’s return, with assistant coach Aaron Danks set to take charge of Saturday’s visit of Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker.
