Bochum do Bayern Munich big favour by holding Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund missed the chance to move four points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga after being held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Bochum.
Bochum 1-1 Dortmund
Goals: 1-0 Losilla 5', 2-0 Adeyemi 7' (assist: Haller)
Bochum stunned Dortmund into action when Anthony Losilla arrowed a fifth-minute strike into the top corner from the edge of the area. BVB's response was immediate, though, with Sebastien Haller flicking on a Donyell Malen cross for Karim Adeyemi to tap in the equaliser. Takuma Asano tested Gregor Kobel as the Ruhr district rivals continued to go tit for tat. Adeyemi shot wide in the aftermath of Jude Bellingham forcing a save from Manuel Riemann, before Niklas Süle intervened at the other end to thwart Asano. Riemann had to be alert top stop Adeyemi racing in on goal and did well to hold a first-time Malen shot soon after. Bochum were presented with great chance to restore their lead at the end of an end-to-end first half, but Philipp Hofmann whipped Asano's cut-back wide of Kobel's far post.
Bellingham sent a deflected attempt off target and Riemann gathered a probing Süle cross in a rather more disjointed second half. Kevin Stöger made Kobel work after his initial effort was charged down, while Malen ballooned over following a promising run. In need of a spark, Edin Terzic turned to teenaged striker Youssoufa Moukoko and club captain Marco Reus. The duo were straight into the action, combining for a Moukoko shot that Riemann did well to beat clear. Riemann dived full stretch to keep out Bellingham's 18-yard strike as Dortmund began to crunch through the gears, before Malen flicked a volley narrowly wide. BVB thought they'd won it in the 90th minute, but Mats Hummels' header was deemed offside, handing Bayern the chance to reclaim top spot with victory over bottom side Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
