Borussia Dortmund newcomer Nico Schulz: "Too early to tell how strong we are"
Borussia Dortmund newcomer Nico Schulz is refusing to get too carried away after BVB made it three pre-season wins from three with victory over UEFA Champions League holders Liverpool.
Summer signing Schulz missed the 10-0 rout of German minnows Schweinberg, but featured in both games of Dortmund's recently ended US tour as the Black-Yellows beat Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders 3-1, before edging Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool 3-2.
The 26-year-old left-back admits he could scarcely have wished for a better start to his Dortmund career, but knows the hard work is only just getting started.
"It's a massive club as you could seen by the support we had on tour, and I'm delighted to be here," Schulz said.
"I've been well integrated on and off the pitch, so I can have no complaints.
"The training has been intense and it's not easy playing two games in three days, but we're looking good.
"It's only been 10 days together, though, so it's too difficult and too early to say how strong we really are."

Dortmund will fly back to Europe on 21 July to ramp up their preparations for the 2019/20 campaign.
Lucien Favre's men face Serie A outfit Udinese and Swiss club St. Gallen on 27 and 30 July respectively, before hosting Bayern Munich in the German Supercup in their first competitive assignment of the season on 3 August.
After that, it's third-tier Uerdingen in the DFB Cup first round (9 August) and Augsburg in their Bundesliga opener (17 August).
"Hopefully we can win trophies this season and hopefully I can do my bit," Schulz said after joining Dortmund on a five-year deal from Hoffenheim earlier in the summer.
"I think we can achieve something big together."
Dortmund are looking to go one better after ending the 2018/19 Bundesliga season two points behind defending champions Bayern in second place. They also came up short in the DFB Cup and Champions League, bowing out at the quarter-final and last-16 stage respectively.
Schulz, meanwhile, was part of a Hoffenheim side that finished ninth, three points outside the European qualification spots.
The eight-time Germany international previously played under Favre at Borussia Mönchengladbach, and for Hertha Berlin.
