Borussia Dortmund to play charity match to help flood victims in Germany
Borussia Dortmund have announced that they will play a charity match on 1 September to raise money to help those affected by July’s floods in Germany.
The game will be played at the Ischelandstadion in Hagen in front of up to 4,999 spectators, with Dortmund playing the first 45 minutes against SpVg. Hagen 1911 and then the second half against SV Hohenlimburg 1910. Both are amateur clubs from the area of Hagen-Hohenlimburg that was hit by the flooding.
“We’ll make our contribution to help those affected and give the proceeds of a charity match to the victims,” said BVB CEO Jans-Joachim Watzke.
Money from both ticket sales and broadcast rights will be donated to those impacted by the floods, which caused devastation and loss across the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Borussia’s home of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The game will be played during the September international break, meaning the likes of captain Marco Reus should feature if not called up by Germany.
Tickets are available to buy here and cost €10 for a standing spot and €20 for a seat.
