Bundesliga launches AWS Speed Alert
Speed is a cornerstone for success in football, and this is now recorded live as a Bundesliga Match Fact powered by AWS, the official technology provider of the Bundesliga.
The speed alert selects the fastest player in each game and shows you whether it is enough for a personal, team or even Bundesliga record. Follow the new Bundesliga Match Fact in the live ticker in our app and on our website.
Top speed crucial in attack and defence. On Matchday 1, Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland accelerated to over 35 km/h (21.7 mph) in the 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. That's almost 10 meters (32.8 feet) in a second, making him the fastest player on the opening day. Among defenders, Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies stood out as the fastest Bundesliga player since data collection began last season. The 2019/20 Rookie of the Season was one of only three players to break the 36 km/h (22.4 mph) barrier. Bayer Leverkusen pair Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey complete the top three. The Bundesliga is raving about speed - and thanks to AWS, high speeds will now be perfectly documented for you.
