Can Uzun

Age: 18 (born 1 November 2005)
Club: Eintracht Frankfurt
Position: Attacking midfielder/ forward
Country: Türkiye (one cap)

Key stats

Uzun joins Frankfurt on the back of a prolific season with Nuremberg. The 18-year-old produced 19 goals and four assists in 32 appearances in all competitions in 2023/24, including 16 strikes in Bundesliga 2. The naturally right-footed attacker - who stands at 6'1" tall - previously hit 15 goals across 16 U19 Bundesliga games, as well as 27 in 24 at U17s level for Der Club. The Regensburg native's breakout club season was rewarded with a maiden senior international cap for Türkiye in March 2024. He has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Frankfurt.

Plays a bit like: Jamal Musiala

Uzun is at his best when playing behind a central striker, where he can use his nimble feet and low centre of gravity to optimum effect. His speed of thought, vision and finishing ability are reminiscent of Jamal Musiala. Much like the Germany and Bayern Munich sensation, he’s also devilishly effective when floating in off either flank.

Did you know?

Uzun was being courted by Germany’s U21s, before confirming his decision to represent Türkiye at senior international level. "Such a decision is not a career decision like changing clubs, but a choice of the heart,” Uzun - who had already played for the Türkiye U17s and 18s - told Sky. “You have to feel the national team, and my heart and gut told me Türkiye was the right choice for me.”
