Donyell Malen joins Borussia Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven
Borussia Dortmund have further bolstered their attack for next season with the acquisition of Donyell Malen, the Netherlands attacker joining from PSV Eindhoven on a five-year deal.
Malen, 22, was previously in the youth academies of Ajax and Arsenal, but he enjoyed his most prolific season to date in 2020/21, scoring 19 goals and assisting eight more as PSV finished as runners-up to Ajax in the Dutch Eridivisie.
"Borussia Dortmund is a top European club that is always at the top of the Bundesliga and has high demands on itself in the Champions League. I can hardly wait to be on the pitch with my new teammates, to be able to measure myself against the best.
"And of course, I'm looking forward to the fans and the stadium that all of Europe raves about," Malen told the club's website.
A diminutive but powerful forward, Malen can occupy almost any role in the final third, but his profile would suit playing off Erling Haaland in a front two, should inbound coach Marco Rose elect to experiment with Dortmund's formation.
Malen could first feature for BVB when they take on Bologna in a pre-season friendly on Friday 30 July, before hosting Bayern Munich in the Supercup on 17 August.
