Harry Kane scores in England draw with Denmark
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane scored but could not inspire England to victory as they ultimately drew 1-1 with Denmark in their 2024 UEFA European Championship Group C clash at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.
England 1-1 Denmark
Goals: 1-0 Kane 18' 1-1 Hjulmand 34' (assist: Kristiansen)
England picked up a narrow 1-0 victory over Serbia in their opening match courtesy of an early Jude Bellingham goal, and they were once again in front inside 20 minutes here. On this occasion, Kane was the goalscorer, tapping in from close range after the ball broke to him. However, much like against the Serbs, England retreated after breaking the deadlock and, following a period of sustained position, Denmark equalised shortly after the half-hour mark. It was a brilliant strike, too, as Morten Hjulmand buried into the bottom corner via the post. After the break, England came out with a point to prove, and almost went in front when Phil Foden's low drive struck the upright. Both teams were eager to secure the win but, while Jordan Pickford and Kasper Schmeichel both made saves for their respective team, neither outfit could find a winner. Denmark, who had Wolfsburg duo Joakim Mæhle and Jonas Wind in the starting XI, now play Serbia, while England face Slovenia.
