Robert Lewandowski named Men's Player of the Year and Manuel Neuer named Men's Goalkeeper of the Year at the Best FIFA Football Awards
Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski has been named Men's Player of the Year and Manuel Neuer named Men's Goalkeeper of the Year at the Best FIFA Football Awards.
Fellow Bayern stars Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich were also named in the FIFAPro Men's World 11, alongside former Bayern teammate Thiago Alcantara.
Lewandowski's top award just reward for the five-time Bundesliga top goalscorer, who raised his own lofty benchmarks in 2019/20, scoring 55 goals in all competitions and collecting winners' medals in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League.
The 32-year-old was the leading scorer in all three of those competitions and had already picked up the Bundesliga Player of the Season and UEFA Men's Player of the Year prizes for his efforts, prior to being named as the best player on the planet.
His goals contributed to the second Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League treble in Bayern's history - a feat which was secured also at the other end of the field, thanks to Neuer, who lifted all three trophies aloft as Bayern's inspirational captain.
The Poland captain is showing no signs of resting on his laurels either. Having already raced into a double-figure tally of goals early in the current league campaign, he had also added three more in the Champions League group stage before hitting his 250th Bundesliga goal in the midweek win over Wolfsburg, reaching that mark quicker than any other player, including Gerd Müller.

Neuer won the award ahead of Alisson Becker (Liverpool) and Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) for the Men's Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Bayern's No.1 returned from an injury-ridden 2018/19 season to play a starring role in the Bavarian's successful 2019/20 campaign. He kept 22 clean sheets across all competitions in 2019/20, including in six of Bayern's 11 Champions League games.
"Manu has showed clearly that he is the best goalkeeper in the world," Lewandowski told bundesliga.com after Bayern's win over Wolfsburg the night before the FIFA Best awards. "And for me, it's clear that he will win this trophy for the best goalkeeper in the world. The same for Hansi, the coach of the team which won everything. So, it's an easy choice."
