Kane was in unstoppable form on Matchday 3 as he scored a hat-trick in Bayern’s 6-1 demolition of newly-promoted Holstein Kiel. The Englishman already had a brace before half-time and added his third in injury time of the second half, completing his fifth hat-trick in Bayern colours. That brought Kane's Bundesliga tally to 40, taking him level with Jadon Sancho as the Englishman with the most German top-flight goals.

As Bayern went top of the Bundesliga table for the first time in 2024, so Kane made it a full top-tier pack he has netted against: for Kiel, now read 18 Bundesliga teams the magic marksman has found the net against. Needing only 35 games to make it to 40 goals, the former Tottenham Hotspur favourite beat the previous quickest to 40 in the division, Uwe Seeler, who needed 42 games to hit that mark.

What's more, by scoring from the penalty spot, Kane made it 10 successful penalties from 10 taken in Bayern colours. With 49 goals in 49 games in al competitions for the Bavarian giants, there is no stopping last season's top scorer in the Bundesliga, who already has one more goal in the top-flight (four) than at the same stage last term.

True to form, Kane chose to single out teammate Jamal Musiala for praise after the Kiel rout, the striker telling bundesliga.com, "[Jamal] made the difference in the first half. We're going to need him for the rest of the season for sure." Kane's goals will also be both welcome and necessary as Vicent Kompany's men look to win back their title from defending Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
