'World-class player' - Bayern Munich's Harry Kane receives European Golden Shoe

Harry Kane was awarded with the European Golden Shoe in a special ceremony in Munich following his goalscoring exploits for Bayern Munich in 2025/26.

The Golden Shoe, awarded by European Sports Media (ESM), recognises the leading goalscorer across Europe’s domestic leagues. The Bundesliga, Bayern Munich and German football magazine kicker jointly hosted the presentation ceremony.

Kane scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga during the 2025/26 season, earning 72 points in the Golden Shoe standings and finishing comfortably ahead of Erling Haaland (Manchester City, 54 points) and Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid, 50 points).

It is the England international’s second Golden Shoe, following his triumph in the 2023/24 season. You can see the presentation as it happened below:

Kane drew praise from all quarters during Wednesday’s ceremony. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: "Harry is a world-class player whose importance to us goes further than goals. He has extraordinary quality, extraordinary consistency and an extraordinary personality."

Meanwhile, Bundesliga managing director Dr. Marc Lenz added: "Harry Kane is making his mark on the Bundesliga in a wonderful way, both in sporting terms and as a person. He is on the path to defining an era."

Former Bayern striker Luca Toni, who was a surprise guest at the ceremony, took on a more humorous tone as he lauded Kane.

"Harry, I have learnt English over the past few days just for you," he said, before adding: "You are a goal machine. You don't just wait for the ball in the box, you go and get it yourself. Other strikers have to search for space, you create it."

Toni continued: "You deserve the Ballon d'Or. If you'd like, I would then be able to do another congratulatory speech for you in my perfect English."

Kane himself then thanked those who had spoken about him in such glowing terms. "I would first like to thank all the Bayern players, coaches and staff, without whom I would not be standing here," he said.

The striker went on to claim that the 2025/26 term was the "best of his career", before saying he feels happy in Munich and is enjoying his football. "I am always trying to improve and hope that I can do just that next season."

Should he succeed, a third Golden Shoe award may be just around the corner.
