Bundesliga clubs and players have swiftly adapted to the new UEFA Champions League format this season, with Harry Kane, Serhou Guirassy, Karim Adeyemi and Benjamin Šeško currently the competition’s leading scorers in 2024/25.

Bayern Munich forward Kane is in pole position outright with four goals – all scored in a thumping 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Matchday 1 – while Borussia Dortmund pair Guirassy and Adeyemi each have three.

The latter hit a hat-trick in a 7-1 thrashing of Celtic on Matchday 2. Guirassy was on target twice in that game, having previously scored in a 3-0 victory over Club Brugge.

Those results have fired Dortmund top of the 36-team league phase table after two of eight matchdays, while Bayern sit 15th following their surprise defeat at Aston Villa last time out.

Leipzig are still without a point in Europe after narrow defeats against Atlético Madrid (2-1) and Juventus (3-2), but Šeško has shown his prowess in front of goal and has netted all three of his team’s efforts.

Leverkusen, like Dortmund, have won both of their matches to date. Florian Wirtz is their leading scorer with two goals.

The goal glut is no coincidence: Kane has struck five times in the Bundesliga this season; Adeyemi has two goals and three assists; Guirassy three goals; Šeško two goals and two assists; and Wirtz has four goals and one assist.
