Marko Grujic wins Hertha Berlin all three points against Eintracht Frankfurt
Hertha Berlin inflicted a second straight defeat on Eintracht Frankfurt, with Liverpool loanee Marko Grujic’s first Bundesliga goal decisive.
Hertha Berlin 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
Goals: 1-0 Grujic (40’)
Frankfurt went close to taking the lead with 10 minutes played, when Sebastien Haller’s deflected strike came back off the post. Haller continued to pose Hertha problems, flicking a cheeky effort into the side-netting, before Ante Rebic warmed the palms of Rune Jarstein. All signs pointed to a Frankfurt opener, but Hertha hadn’t read the script and took the lead late in the half through Grujic’s thunderous header from a Marvin Plattenhardt corner. It was the Serbian's first goal in the Bundesliga.
Davie Selke thought he’d doubled Hertha’s advantage early in the second half, but his effort was ruled out for offside. The former Germany youth striker rounded Kevin Trapp moments later, only for the Frankfurt stopper to make a brilliant recovery and prevent a certain goal. Half-chances fell the way of Filip Kostic and Nicolai Müller as Frankfurt turned the screw, while Evan N’Dicka sent a header over with the Eagles' last meaningful attempt of the contest.
