The annual Ballon d'Or prize, presented by French news magazine France Football, is decided by votes cast by coaches and captains of national teams worldwide.

This year's accolade recognises the best player in the world between the period of August 2022 to July 2023. The winner will be announced at an award ceremony in Paris on Monday, 30 October.

Kane's inclusion on the 30-man shortlist is reward for a 30-goal season in the English Premier League with boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur.

For his part, 2023 Kopa trophy and Golden Boy candidate Musiala enjoyed another eye-catching campaign with Bayern. The 20-year-old produced 16 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, famously scoring the Bundesliga title-clinching goal on the final day of 2022/23

Kim also got his hands on domestic silverware, the South Korea international defender underpinning Napoli's long-awaited Serie A triumph before - like Kane - switching to Bayern over the summer.

Bellingham, Haaland (Real Madrid & Manchester City respectively; both ex-Borussia Dortmund), Robert Lewandowski (formerly of Bayern & Dortmund), Josko Gvardiol (who left RB Leipzig for Man City in August), Randal Kolo Muani (now of Paris Saint-Germain after a formative one-season stint at Eintracht Frankfurt) and Man City pair Kevin De Bruyne (Werder Bremen & Wolfsburg) and Ilkay Gündogan (Dortmund) are also in the running. France's Karim Benzema won the award in 2022. Record seven-time winner Lionel Messi is another notable candidate.
