Wolfsburg sign Manchester City and Germany U21 forward Lukas Nmecha on season-long loan
Lukas Nmecha has joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan from defending English Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 20-year-old forward, who has made two Premier League appearances for City, spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at English Championship club Preston North End, producing three goals and eight assists in 44 appearances.
"Lukas is a young and hungry player, who fits perfectly with our style of play and philosophy," said Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer.
"He did well in the English second tier last season and for the Germany U21s."
Nmecha was born in Germany, but moved to England as a child, representing the Three Lions at youth level before switching his allegiance back to his birth country.
He made his debut for the Germany U21s in March 2019, and won three further caps during their run to the UEFA U21 EURO finals this summer.
"It's long been my goal to play in the Bundesliga and my country of birth," Nmecha said.
"Now the deal with Wolfsburg has gone through, I'm delighted because I have the best possible conditions to test myself and improve my game at the highest level."
Nmecha, who will wear the No.22 shirt at Wolfsburg, could make his competitive debut for the 2008/09 Bundesliga champions as soon as 12 August, against third tier Hallescher in the DFB Cup first round.
