Maximilian Beier joins Borussia Dortmund from Hoffenheim
Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Germany striker Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim.
Beier, who hit 16 Bundesliga goals for Hoffenheim last season and made his full Germany debut against Ukraine in June, has signed a five-year deal through to summer 2029.
The 21-year-old becomes BVB's fifth summer signing after Serhou Guirassy and Waldemar Anton (both from Stuttgart), Pascal Groß (Brighton) and Yan Couto (Manchester City, on loan).
"I owe TSG so much and will never forget the club and the many people here, but now I wanted to take this opportunity and I'm really looking forward to the new challenge," Beier said.
"I would like to thank everyone who has invested patience and hard work in my training at an exceptional club. TSG is the ideal club for a young player to develop in a calm and focussed manner."
Beier, who is a replacement for Niclas Füllkrug, could make his debut as soon as Saturday, when Nuri Şahin's side take on German minnows Phönix Lübeck in the DFB Cup first round.
"After selling Niclas Füllkrug [to West Ham United], we needed to act," explained Lars Ricken, BVB's managing director for sport. "We really wanted to bring in a young player with outstanding potential who we can help develop into a top-level international player in the medium term, and Maximilian Beier fits that profile exactly.
"We’ve now managed to sign all our five transfer targets this summer, including three Germany internationals. Several top European clubs were battling for Maximilian’s signature, and we’re delighted that he quickly decided he wanted to come to Borussia Dortmund."
