Michael Olise hitting new heights for Bayern Munich in 2026/27
If Bayern Munich fans thought they had seen the best of Michael Olise in the winger’s second full campaign with the record Bundesliga champions, they may have been labouring under a misapprehension.
Olise was voted Bundesliga Player of the Season in 2025/26, racking up 15 goals and 19 assists in Germany’s top flight alone as part of an all-conquering Bayern front three featuring Harry Kane and Luis Díaz.
In doing so, the 2024/25 Rookie of the Season winner became the first player since former Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho - and only the second since 2004/05 - to hit at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a single Bundesliga campaign.

Olise finished last season with a staggering 22 goals and 29 assists across all competitions. Yet, somehow, the France international appears to have elevated his game to even greater heights this term.
Kane’s record-shattering 100th Bundesliga goal may have dominated the headlines after Bayern’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin, but hat-trick hero Olise was the undisputed star of the show at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 4.
Having beaten Frederik Rønnow with a stunning first-time effort from the corner of the penalty area late in the first half, Olise wrapped up a resounding win with Bayern’s sixth and seventh goals of the evening - the latter of which was another sensational swerving strike from the edge of the box.

He also registered his first league assist of the 2025/26 campaign, supplying the cross from which Kane nodded in the Bavarians’ fourth - and the Englishman’s 101st Bundesliga goal in Bayern colours.
It is Olise, though, who sits joint-top of the division’s early-season scoring chart with four goals in as many appearances so far. Had the winger not been denied by the woodwork on two occasions - more than any other player in the league - the likes of Igor Matanović, Younes Ebnoutalib and Patrik Schick would all be lying in his wake.
Three of his four goals so far came against Mauro Lustrinelli’s faltering side on Friday evening - the other was against VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 1 - but Olise’s jaw-dropping display against Union was far from a one-off. Quite the contrary, in fact.
The 24-year-old has already registered more shots (18) than any other player in the Bundesliga in 2026/27. He has also attempted a league-high 18 dribbles, while only 10 players have won more duels than the wideman this term.
Of the 47 duels he has attempted, Olise has come out on top in 55 percent - a remarkable figure for an attacking player. He is also outperforming his expected goals for the campaign by 1.7, making him one of the most clinical players of the campaign so far.
He has been no less prolific in other competitions, having found the net in Bayern’s DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League openers this season. He also scored and assisted in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup victory over Dortmund, leaving him on eight goals and three assists after only seven appearances across all competitions.

Little wonder, then, that head coach Vincent Kompany was running out of superlatives for the former Crystal Palace star after the watching his side breeze past Union.
“Michael Olise is the whole package,” said the Belgian. “He’s been playing at this level for almost two and a half years.
“I don’t want to be a ‘fan’ of my players. For me, it’s important how they are as human beings. [It’s] the way he plays football, but also how he is as a person.”
An introvert off the pitch, Olise had no qualms in letting Jamal Musiala face the cameras - rather than conduct his Man of the Match interview himself - after leaving Union’s defenders in a twist on Matchday 4.
If he can pick up where he left off after the international break, Kompany - and Bayern fans the world over - will be more than happy to let Olise continue to do his talking on the pitch.
