Youssoufa Moukoko and Jessic Ngankam have received an outpouring of support following the publication of racist comments on social media after Germany's latest Under-21 international.

Moukoko responded to racist remarks on his social media posts after the game, the Borussia Dortmund star saying, “If we win, we're all Germans; if we lose, we're the black guys, then monkey comments come in. Things like this just don’t belong in football. It’s disgusting."

Moukoko's words followed Germany's 1-1 draw against Israel at the European Under-21 Championship during which both he and Hertha Berlin's Jessic Ngankam both missed penalties. “We're all the same, we bleed the same blood," Moukoko said, adding, "It's enough, we must set an example.”

“Any kind of racism and discrimination is completely out of order,” Germany's Under-21 coach Antonio di Salvo said. “I protect our boys - who love to play for Germany, who are Germans and who give everything for their country and themselves - 1,000 per cent. I am shocked and disappointed, personally," the tactician continued in relation to the racist comments.

Meanwhile, Freiburg's Yannik Keitel published Moukoko's statements while adding, “Against racism!“ In an interview with German publication Kicker, Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu said: “I don't understand why people are still racist. It's not up to the boys where they're from. They decide to play for Germany and do their best for their country. I hope it just stops.”

Several clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 also responded immediately and expressed solidarity with Ngankam and Moukoko. “Disgusting and despicable. No place for racism and discrimination. We are behind you, Jessic and Youssoufa,” Hertha commented. “The Borussia family is with you, Youssoufa!“ Moukoko's club Dortmund continued.

Racism has no place in football. Not in the Bundesliga, not in amateur sports and not in the national team!
