Experience the Bundesliga in a new light with RefCam!
Ever wondered what it feels like to be a referee? Bundesliga fans can now see how the match official views the action with the new RefCam!
RefCam was used for the first time in the Bundesliga on Matchday 23 of the 2023/24 season, providing a unique perspective on the 2-2 draw between Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. Match official Daniel Schlager certainly had a lot to take in, including early goals, cautions and Omar Marmoush's injury-time equaliser.
The images were not included in the live broadcast or the match summaries. The recorded material will be used for an approximately half-hour report entitled 'Referees Mic'd up – Bundesliga', which will be produced by the DFL and made available to its national and international media partners for release from 12 March.

How does RefCam work?
A special camera is attached to the referee's headset in order to film the match from his or her viewpoint. A sound link is also used to reproduce the referee's conversations on the pitch and provide viewers around the world with further insight into the job of a match official.
