Lewandowski, 33, scored 35 times across the 34-game season for record champions Bayern Munich, averaging a goal every 82 minutes. His nearest challenger was Bayer Leverkusen's Patrik Schick on 24 goals. Borussia Dortmund counterpart Erling Haaland finished third in the final scoring charts with 22.

Lewandowski is the first player in Bundesliga history to win five top scorer's cannons in a row, as well as seven outright. Gerd Müller also took the prize seven times, albeit sharing the award on three occasions.

The Bayern No.9 scored two hat-tricks and seven braces, whilst only failing to score in 10 of his 34 appearances. He enjoyed two five-game scoring streaks comprising seven goals, as well as a four-game burst totalling the same number between Matchdays 16-19. The regining two-time Best FIFA Men's Player also broke the Bundesliga record for most single-season away goals (19).

Lewandowski has claimed six of his top scorer's cannons as a Bayern player - the other falling at the end of his final season with Dortmund. He previously won the prize in 2013/14 (20), 2015/16 (30), 2017/18 (29), 2018/19 (22), 2019/20 (34) and 2020/21 (a single-season record 41), and ranks second in the all-time charts.

His 312 goals in 384 Bundesliga games puts him comfortably clear of Klaus Fischer in third (268 goals), with only Müller ahead of him. The late Bayern forward boasts an incredible haul of 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games for Bayern between 1964 and 1979, but Lewandowski boasts the superior strike rate. The Pole averages a goal every 100 minutes compared to Müller's 105.

Lewandowski, on the books of Bayern since the summer of 2014, is currently contracted with the club until 30 June 2023.
