Augsburg's Robin Fellhauer scores fastest goal in Bundesliga history

Augsburg's Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history on Saturday when he found the net in under nine seconds against Bayern Munich.

It was made all the more remarkable given that Bayern began the game, with Harry Kane passing the ball all the way back to Manuel Neuer from kick-off.

The Germany legend took a heavy touch before trying to dink the ball over the onrushing Fellhauer, but the midfielder anticipated the move and intercepted before rushing forward and tucking home the Bundesliga’s fastest ever goal in under nine seconds.

“I didn’t even realise it until the first injury break when Gregor came over to me and said, ‘Congratulations, you’re buying the drinks now’ that I knew something had happened," Fellhauer told the Bundesliga at full time.

"But now, after the match, it’s starting to sink in a bit and it’s an indescribable feeling to be part of something so big, something where you’re now immortalized in the record books. I don’t think anyone will break it any time soon.”

The previous record of nine seconds was held jointly by Kevin Volland, who also scored against Bayern for Hoffenheim in 2015, and Karim Bellarabi, who found the net for Bayer Leverkusen against Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
